Craft Roulette Episode #255

One of my favorite card-making challenges is Craft Roulette.  By spinning the roulette wheel, you are presented with four parameters with which you are to make a card.  This week's parameters were:

    *    Project - an A2 card

    *    Color - Valentines

    *    Element - February

    *    Random - Metallic or Foil

After much deliberation, I created this card:

    *    an A2 card

    *    a favorite Valentine color of red

    *    February is Fabulous Florida Strawberry Month

    *    Metal "wires" around the basket are silver metallic cardstock.

I didn't have any strawberry stamps, so I had to scour the internet to find some strawberry free clip art, which I printed and cut out.  The base of my card is the Karen Burniston Flower Pot Pop-up, into which I glued the individual strawberries.  I found some woven basket patterned paper in my stash for the outside of the "basket" and glued some silver cardstock around it to create "wires."  I found an appropriate sentiment for the front in a very old stamp set I've had for years.

Craft Roulette always makes you think.  Sometimes the answers to the parameters come easy; other times you really have to think hard about it.  This one was relatively easy.  I look forward to 7:00 on Friday nights each week for a new challenge.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge "Bouquets"

It's Designer Challenge time again for the Karen Burniston design team.  The theme this month is "Bouquets."  Karen reminded us that "bouquets" don't necessarily have to be flowers.

My card actually has two bouquets.  The one on the front is your standard flower bouquet -- made with pieces from the Flower Pot Pop-up (plus the Add-on set) and the Twist Flower Pop-up.

The bouquet on the inside is a "flower people" bouquet -- made again with the Twist Flower Pop-up, but with the Paper People as well.  The double Photo Fan Pop-up gives you plenty of space for lots of flower people.  I added eyeglasses from Tiny Accessories 1 to several of the people.

This would make a nice card from the gang at the office.

Karen Burniston New Release Blog Hop

Hi Crafty Friends,
Welcome to our Karen Burniston Products - KB Riley LLC January Release Blog Hop. The Design Team have come together with Karen today for a fun blog hop to celebrate the release of 8 new dies and 4 new stamp sets. Sneak peeks of the new release started last week, and the dies are available to order NOW!

This release includes:
• 1 new Pop-up Die Set
• 3 new Pop-up Add-ons Die Sets
• 4 new Stand Alone Die Sets
• 4 new Clear Sentiment Stamp Sets
Dies are available to order now on the website.

One of the new sets is a variation on a previously released set. The Triple Platform Pop-up has become a favorite for me. I have made several cards with it, including this one I made for Valentine's Day.

I carried the heart theme from the patterned paper onto the three pop-up platforms, adding some hearts from the Love Charms. Another one of the new dies in this release is the Paper People set. I included a couple of young lovers up in the left-hand corner. That set includes a "paper person" die and lots of choices of clothing and hair styles for you to dress them up. All of the Tiny Accessories sets will coordinate with these as well.

These are the two new sets I used on my card.

Last Karen Burniston Sneak Peek for January

It's almost time for the new release from Karen Burniston to be available.  My last sneak peek uses the Triple Platform Pop-up for a St. Patrick's Day card.  The front is rather plain . . .

. . . but the inside pops out at you.  I had a small wooden shamrock which I traced onto three pieces of green cardstock and cut out, repeating the process on white cardstock, but cutting smaller.  I decorated the three shamrocks with diecuts from both the Good Luck Charms and Paper People.  I stamped the center shamrock with an Irish phrase.

 If you want to have a chance at a $25 credit from the Karen Burniston website, be sure to comment on the design team members' posts starting tomorrow in the Blog Hop.  Each member will be giving away a prize.

Karen Burniston New Release - Day 6

All week I've been showing some sneak peeks at the new Karen Burniston dies.  Today I've got a card made with the Fishing Boat Add-ons to the previously released Boat Pop-up.  My late husband was an avid fisherman, and I'd like to think that he would love this Father's Day card.

The front of the card features the Postage die from the last release with bits and pieces from this release -- the sentiment comes from the new Fishing stamp set, the bucket and fish are part of the Fishing Boat Add-ons, and the fisherman was made with the Paper People set along with the hat from the Fishing Boat Add-ons.  Those waves behind the Postage collage were made with one of the new Ocean Edges dies.

I just love the fishing rod die from the Fishing Boat Add-ons set.  The fishing line is nice and thin.  This set also includes the motor and seat for the boat.  I included another one of the sentiments from the Fishing stamp set as well.

Don't forget about the Blog Hop starting on Monday.  Comment often to give yourself more chances to win a $25 credit in your account on the Karen Burniston website.

Karen Burniston New Release - Day 5

The Karen Burniston Design Team was discussing the new dies, one of which is the Popcorn set, when someone mentioned Cracker Jacks and wondered if the lemons in the Tiny Trees Pop-up set could work as the nuts in a box of Cracker Jacks.  I decided to find out. I googled "Cracker Jacks" and found a photo of a Cracker Jacks box.

I cut several sets from the popcorn die, sponging them with yellow ink, covering a sheet of cardstock, and gluing it to the front of my card.  I cut the lemons from brown cardstock and scattered them throughout the page. I created my sailor using the Paper People and cut the dog from the Dog House Tiny House Add-ons.  I added one of the sentiments from the new Popcorn Phrases stamp set, and my Cracker Jacks box was complete.  What do you think?

I used another of the Popcorn Phrases sentiments for the inside along with a few pieces of popcorn.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and don't forget about the Blog Hop on Monday.

Karen Burniston January Release Sneak Peek - Day 4

Another one of Karen Burniston's new dies is an add-on -- this time to the Flower Pot Pop-up.

This die provides an easier way to attach the Flower Pot Pop-up to the card.  Included in this set is a base piece for the flower pot.  This then gets glued inside the card.  Also included are some more flowers and a small butterfly.  I made a Valentine card with it.  And I must say, it definitely makes adding the flower pot to the card much easier.

Don't forget about our blog hop next week.   Karen Burniston and each member of the design team are giving away a $25 gift certificate to Karen's website.
