Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek Day 6

This has been a fun week.  Karen Burniston's dies are so cleverly designed that designs come easily.  Today's sneak peek is a slimline card using the Movie Night Charms and the Graduation Elements.  The Movie Night Charms are on the front . . .

. . . and the Graduation Elements on the inside.

Only a couple more days before you can purchase the dies.  I hope you have been making your list.

Wicked Cool Birthday

Many years ago I read Wicked by Gregory Maguire and enjoyed it very much.  Since then I have seen the play.   Hopefully, I'll get to see the movie.  But, in the meantime, I have made a card.  That patterned paper from My Favorite Things seemed to be the perfect choice.

On the inside we find Glinda and Elphaba resting on the Karen Burniston Little Labels Pop-up.   The sentiment stamps come from two different KB stamp sets, Photo Memories and Birthday/Belated.

I like that several of Karen's label dies have different size labels, so you can mix and match.  I used labels from two different sets -- Little Labels Pop-up and Paper Frames.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  I hope you come back again.

Strike Up the Band

I've been having fun with the new Karen Burniston Piano Keys Pop-up.  Today I have a mini slimline card using this die, along with two other new sets (Music Charms and Just a Note Lorna Add-ons) as well as the previously released Little Labels Pop-up.  I followed Karen's directions on how to make that border using two of the Music Charms multiple times, creating a strip of piano keys.

I added two of the musical instruments from the Music Charms to the Little Labels Pop-up on the inside of the card.  The center label was stamped with one of the new coordinating stamp sets from the new release.

I had a cyber friend who passed away about 5 years ago whose favorite color combination was red, white, and black.  Every time I use that color combination I think of her.  This one is for you, Joanne!

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek - Day 1

It's goody time again -- a new release from Karen Burniston.  Twelve new dies!!!

It's been pretty chilly here in Florida last month, but warm weather is upon us again.  One of the new dies (Tiny Accessories 4) has some fun things to play with in the water.  Karen's animals are having a splashing good time with them.  The hippo is floating around the pool on the new flamingo floatie . . .

. . . and he invited his friends the giraffe and the elephant to go scuba diving with him.

They had a grand day!

The design team has been having such fun playing with these new dies.  You'll be seeing sneak peeks from everyone during the rest of the week.  And our Blog Hop is on Monday.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - Jack-O-Lanterns

It's time again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, and this month's theme is JACK-O-LANTERN.  How appropriate -- with Halloween right around the corner.  I pulled out several Karen Burniston Halloween sets to decorate my card, a slimline card featuring the Little Labels Pop-Up set.

The front of my card is relatively simple, with a Jack-o-lantern made with the pumpkin from the Autumn Elements set with the face cut with one of the dies in Halloween Elements.

But the inside is a bit less simple.  I love that skeleton from the Skeleton & Bat set, dressed up with a top hat and bow tie.  I used two of the brand-new Halloween Borders set to span the card.

You'll be seeing more of those Halloween Borders.  I love them!

50th Birthday

I had a request from one of my friends to make a 50th birthday card for her daughter.  There was a little twist to this request.  She wanted me to incorporate sharks and mermaids into the card.  After much thought, I put this card together, using the Karen Burniston Little Labels Pop-Up on the inside.

As it was a 50th birthday, I thought I should use some gold in the design, so I made the frame (Pinkfresh Studios) and the "50th" (Karen Burniston) from gold cardstock.  I had found that cool wave paper at Hobby Lobby several months ago and figured the shark would look cute behind one of the waves.

On the inside the Little Label Pop-Up holds both a shark and a couple of mermaids -- thus fulfilling the request.  I added a couple of Border Blend strips to the top and bottom of the card, as well as the larger label for a place to sign the card.  Those larger labels were created using dies from the Paper Frames set, which has labels of the same shape as those in the Little Labels Pop-Up.

I hope my friend likes this.

CCEE2242 - International Animation Day

Lynn's final CCEE Stampers challenge this month celebrates Animation Day, which is tomorrow.  What joyful and action-packed entertainment has filled our lives through the talented creations of the world's amazing animators.  In honor of these animators' remarkable work, we were to choose one of our favorite animated characters to feature on this week's CCEE design.  How fabulous would it be if you included the name of the animator who created your character!

Well, I was a bit limited to my choices (based on the stamps I own).  But Kindred Stamps has many pop culture stamps in their inventory, and one of them is called Tea Friends.  This is based on Alice in Wonderland.  I read both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass as a kid several times.

I googled "Alice in Wonderland" and found this image of the Walt Disney movie.  I don't know who the specific animators were who worked on this film, so we'll give credit to Walt Disney Studios for this one.

The inside of my card sort of depicts the Mad Tea Party.  I used the Karen Burniston Little Labels Pop-Up, which fits very nicely inside a 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" mini slimline card.

If you're CURIOUS to see more tributes to the animators of this world, check out the CCEE Stampers blog.

Final Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek

I tried a little experiment for my post today.  I made two slimline Halloween cards -- one regular size and the other a mini.  As you can see, they are the same card -- just two different sizes.  On the front is the Slim Pattern Plate - Spiders.  The smaller card has a strip of black on each end, using one of the Border Blends - Trims.  The larger one uses the same pattern plate, but with an additional couple of rows of spiders added.

The insides of the cards are exactly the same, just a bit more room at the edges of the regular-size card.  I used all three elements of the Spider and Bat set, along with a woven strip of black and orange Border Blends - Trim.  I cut one of the spiders from the pattern plate and placed him in the small rectangle where you can sign your name.

Tomorrow is the big day.  You'll be able to order all of the new dies on Karen's website then.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - Labels

The theme for this month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge is "LABELS."  We were to create a card that incorporates a pop-up label.  A relatively new die in Karen's arsenal is the Little Labels Pop-Up, which is a generic die that can be used in both a regular-type card or a slimline card, even a mini slimline.  My choice for this month's challenge was a slimline card.

What I like about this particular die set, is that you have so many options.  There are six different-sized label dies in the set, BUT the Paper Frames Pop-Up has six different dies that are the same shape but different sizes.  Plus the Labels Crosshatch set has several more.  So you have a wide variety of sizes from which to mix and match.

Be sure to check out the cards made by the rest of the DT.

CCEE2211 - Happy Birthday, Frances Byrne!

Frances told the CCEE Stampers that today is her birthday and challenged us to create a card using one or more of her favorite things -- slimline cards, interactive or pop-up cards, owls, the color blue.  I was able to incorporate all four things into my birthday card.

As you can see, I have 1) a mini slimline card; 2) a pop-up on the inside; 3) owls -- both on the front and inside; and 4) the color blue.  The pop-up on the inside is made with the Karen Burniston Little Labels Pop-up, and the owls are from the Feathered Animals die set.

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see which of the four things the rest of the team used on their cards.  And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FRANCES!!!

CCEE2202 - Penguin Awareness Day

Today is Penguin Awareness Day.  I challenged the CCEE Stampers to put a penguin or two on their cards.  My card has three!

I've recently become a fan of Whimsy Stamps' slimline paper packs, and the one I used on my card today is from a pack called Frozen. This is a mini-slimline card, so I cut down the paper to fit the 3 1/2" x 6 1.2" card. The Paper Nest Dolls penguins look right at home on those ice floes.

When you open the card, there's a little surprise.  The penguins jumped off the ice floes onto a a snow bank and have popped up on the Karen Burniston Little Labels Pop-Up die.

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog for some more Penguin Fun!

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge -- MOD HOLIDAY

It's time again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month we were to make a Christmas card using a non-traditional color.

As one of my favorite colors is purple, that's the direction in which I went.  The front of the card is relatively simple, with just a snowy hill (using the Long Nature's Edges 2) and snowflakes (also Long Nature's Edges 2).

The inside has a bit more to say.

I used the new Little Labels Pop-Up and added a few holiday charms to the labels.  Please note that another Karen Burniston die set, the Paper Frames, has dies in the same shape as the labels.  I actually used some of them on the layering.  One of the dies in the new Border Blends - Trims set looks so nice with two pieces woven together, as you can see along the base of the pop-up.  Another new die is the Labels - Crosshatch, which I used as a place to sign the card, dressing it up a little with some more snowflakes.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Designer Challenge card for December.

C4C612 - Go for a Ride Day

Last Monday was Go for a Ride Day.  For our challenge this week, the Crazy4Challenges team were to create cards that feature something you might ride on -- car, bus, bike, truck, horse, etc.  I chose a train and used the Karen Burniston Train Pivot Panels train together with the brand-new Little Labels Pop-Up on a slimline card.

This is the inside.

Stop over at the Crazy4Challenges blog to see how the rest of the team handled this challenge.

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek - Day 5

I've got another sneak peek at the new Karen Burniston release -- this time a Christmas card using the Little Labels Pop-Up.   Some of my favorite papers are from Heartfelt Creations, and I used a sheet of one of their Christmas papers on my slimline card today.  Purple might not be your first choice for a Christmas card, but I love purple -- so why not?  The two reindeer are from Christmas Animals (I reversed one of them).  I was really happy when Karen made a shadow for the Merry Christmas sentiment.

There's more of that purple paper on the inside.

And I thought the elements from the Evergreen Pivot Panels and House Pivot Panels would be perfect inside those Little Labels.  I used another one of the new Border Blends - Trims across the top and stamped my sentiment on one as well.

One more day of sneak peeks from me tomorrow and then on Monday the new release goes live with our blog hop.  I hope you'll join us.

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peeks - Day 3

For today's sneak peek, I am again using the new Karen Burniston Little Labels Pop-Up and showing a slimline Thanksgiving card.  The front of the card is a piece of scrapbook paper with the sentiment from Word Set 2 (Birthday) and Word Set 7 (Autumn).

Again, the action is on the inside.  Karen has lots of small dies that will fit on these cute little Labels.  The pumpkins are from Autumn Elements, and the turkey is from Feathered Animals.  You might notice the trim along the bottom of the pop-up.  That, too, is from a new set of Border Blends.  It's called Border Blends - Trims.  And, of course, I used the new Crosshatch Labels for a place to sign.

This is a fun release.  I am getting slightly addicted to that Little Labels Pop-Up die.  it's so versatile.  Be sure to check back tomorrow for another sneak peek.

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peeks - Day 1

It's finally time to show off some projects made with the new Karen Burniston release, which will be available next week.

My first sneak peek is at a fun pop-up -- Little Labels Pop-Up.  Sci-fi fan that I am, I used the Rocket Pop-Up and Space Charms in conjunction with the Little Labels Pop-Up for this mini slimline card.

The inside is where the pop-up shows off.  By the way, the labels are exactly the same shape as the frames in the Paper Frames Pop-Up, so you have lots of choices for sizes.  My card includes one of the Paper Frames' labels as well.

Be sure to check back every day this week for more sneak peeks.  This is a small release (8 dies) but a fun one.  And next Monday we will be having a blog hop, where you could win a $25 gift certificate to the Karen Burniston shop!
