CCEE2222 World Oceans Day

Lynn's challenge for the CCEE Stampers this week is based on the fact that yesterday was World Oceans Day.  She asked us to celebrate the oceans of the world with a nautical-themed project of our choice.  Winds, waves, boats, birds:  anything related to oceans will do. 

I recently watched a youtube video that Julie Creek (of Creek Bank Creations) did in which she made a stand-up mermaid card.  Although I didn't have many of the items she used on her card, I was able to recreate a similar one using supplies I had in my craft room.  The only Creek Bank Creations item I had was the ocean edges die.  My mermaids are from Paper Nest Dolls; the fish are from LDRS, the sentiment is from Mama Elephant, and the seaweed & coral are dies from CottageCutz.  Everything did come together quite well.

As you can see from the next photo, it is a 3-dimentional stand-up card.

CCEE2044 Black Cat Awareness Month

Frances ends October's CCEE Stampers challenges by telling us that October is Black Cat Awareness Month.  I guess with Halloween at the end of the month, it was almost mandatory!  I have a friend who is a lover of cats.  I made this card for her and have already mailed it to her.

C4C556 - Bridge Cards

This week the Crazy4Challenges team members are crating bridge cards.  There are several tutorials on-line for creating this type of card.  Bridge Cards and More Bridge Cards.

After watching Jennifer McGuire's latest tutorial, I made my first slimline bridge card and loved it.  So I made another slimline version of the bridge card today, using some Mama Elephant stamps and dies.  A little hint -- heavy-weight acetate works better than medium-weight acetate for this long card.  (I learned that from experience!)

CCEE2037 Slimline Cards

Frances continues as hostess for the CCEE Stampers and mentioned that slimline cards seem to be very popular at present, especially with a few companies releasing dies especially for the use of creating this style of card.  For our challenge this week, we were to create a Slimline card.  There are two popular sizes for Slimline cards:  8 1/2" x 3 1/2" or 4" x 9".  Actually, many of my Slimline cards are 8 3/4" x 3 3/4".

I recently purchased a couple of slimline die sets from Mama Elephant and used one of them for my card today, along with some stars of the silver screen from Kindred Stamps.  I love that filmstrip die!

C4C551 - Shaker Cards

Apparently September is "Shake Month."  Technically, this relates to Milkshakes; however, for the Crazy4Challenges team is going to shake in a different way by creating shaker cards.  My shaker card is also a slimline card.

CCEE2015 - Unicorn Day

According to our CCEE Stampers hostess Frances, today is Unicorn Day; and she asked us to feature unicorns on our cards this week.

This was a fun one.  I had just bought some cool unicorn paper at Hobby Lobby, and it was perfect for this challenge.  On the front of my card is a Karen Burniston animal die cut . . .

. . . and the inside is a sneak peek at one of the new Karen Burniston dies -- the Paper Frames.  The stamps are from Mama Elephant.

The new dies were supposed to be released back in March; but because of the virus pandemic, shipment was delayed.  They are finally available for pre-order and will begin shipping next week.

CCEE2004 - Ice, Ice, Baby, Ice, Ice

"Baby, it's cold outside!"  That's what Lynn told us this week.  She asked the CCEE Stampers to show off their icy creations -- adding glitter or shine to make some shimmery winter beauties.  I live in Florida, and we don't often see ice outside -- but I did my best with this challenge.

Actually, I enjoyed making an icy card.  I used a fun die -- the Lawn Fawn Magic Picture Changer to show off this cute little Mama Elephant penguin who is learning to ice skate.  As you can see by the second photo, he's having a little trouble staying up on his skates.

It may be a bit difficult to see, but I added some Stickles to the icicles at the top of the card and some Wink of Stella to the ice flow he's skating on.

Christmas in July (almost) - Karen Burniston Triple Flip Die

Well, It's hard to pick a favorite of the new Karen Burniston dies, but I think I have definitely picked mine; and I'm addicted to it.  It's the Triple Flip -- and it works with lots of the charm dies Karen has.

We're celebrating Christmas in July a little early today.  These cute little reindeer from Mama Elephant are just the right size for the flip panels.

And when you pull that tab on the side, there's more fun.

Thanks for stopping by today.  As I said earlier, I have become addicted to this new die and have made quite a few cards with it.  This die and all the rest will be shipping mid-July.  Watch for them!

CCEE1801 Waddle We Do in 2018?

Liz Williams started the new year off with a little pun -- "Waddle we do in 2018?"  She asked the CCEE stampers to use a penguin or other animal that loves the cold.  Right before Christmas I had bought a cute little Mama Elephant winter set with some skating penguins.  They were perfect for Liz's challenge.  I tried a new Heartfelt Creations product on my trees.  It's called Frosting Powder.  I love it!
