Let's Go Camping

I have to admit that I'm not much of a camper.  I do remember one summer when I was a kid, we went to the Pocono Mountains for a week; but "camped" in a cabin -- not a tent.  With that said, I have a gatefold card for you today -- using several of the dies from the "Camping" release from CottageCutz.

Supplies for this card are:

Gold cardstock - 5 1/2" x 11" scored at 2 3/4" and 8 1/4"
White cardstock - 2 pieces 5 1/4" x 2 1/2", 1 piece 5 1/4" square
Various scrap pieces of colored cardstock - green, red, pale blue, green, silver, yellow, tan, orange
Distress ink - green, orange, brown
Patterned paper - grass, sky, sand, macadam
Double-sided tape and tape runner

I started by cutting out the pieces for the Jeep and Trailer and constructing each one.  I used double sided tape for the smaller pieces to make it easier to adhere them to the base pieces.

Then I made the scene by cutting the patterned paper and adhering it to the two white panels, which I then glued to the front panel.  I created my scene by adding the jeep and trailer as well as some trees, the mountains, and the sun.

The fun of a gatefold card happens when you open the panels to the inside.

Using several of the accessory dies in the Camping release, I created a fun campsite.

More Gingerbread Cookies

A couple of weeks ago I made a card using the CottageCutz ornament dies and Peachy Keen face stamps, dishing up a plate of gingerbread cookies.   After I made the card, I thought, "Wouldn't it be fun to have someone take a bite out of one of those cookies?"  Thus, the idea for today's card was born.

Supplies for this card:

Cream cardstock base (pre-cut) 10" x 6 1/2", folded in half
Green cardstock - 4 3/4" x 6 1/4"
Patterned paper - 4 5/8" x 6 1/8"
Kraft cardstock
Red cardstock (scraps)
Green cardstock (scraps)
Kraft-colored cardboard
White detail embossing powder
Versamark ink
Doily
White gel pen
Red craft paint and brush
Scallop Circle punch

Cut three of the smallest star ornaments and three of the smallest circle ornaments from Kraft cardstock; then cut six of each from the cardboard.

Using the punch, cut out the "bite marks" from one Kraft circle and two cardboard circles -- ensuring that the punches are the same size.  Then "build" the cookies by gluing two cardboard pieces and one Kraft piece together.   After stamping and embossing the faces on each of the cookies, add some extra icing with a white gel pen.  Paint a touch of red on the candy canes.

Cut the holly leaves and sentiment.

Construct the card, leaving an open space on the doily to show that the cookie had originally been there.

CCEE1649 - Gingerbread Decorating Day

This month's CCEE Stampers hostess Maryann tells us that December 10th is Gingerbread Decorating Day and December 12th is Gingerbread House Day.  Do you see a trend here?  Anyway, the challenge Maryann gave us was to include something gingerbread-related on our cards.  As I'm still playing with the ornament dies from CottageCutz and the face stamps from Peachy Keen, I decided to "bake" gingerbread cookies and ice them with some cute faces.

Now it's time to sample some more gingerbread creations by visiting the CCEE Stampers blog.  We're taking the holidays off and will return in January.

Big Bulb Easel Card

Here it is the first week of December.  Christmas is right around the corner.  I'm sure we're all in the middle of making lots of Christmas cards; I know I am.  My card for today is another one using the CottageCutz Ornament dies and Peachy Keen face stamps.

Supplies used on my card:

White cardstock 4 1/4" x 11" and 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Patterned paper cut 4" x 5 1/4"
Coordinating patterned paper cut 4" x 5 1/4" and 4" x 1 1/2"
Scrap of yellow cardstock approximately 3 1/2" x 4"
Scrap of silver cardstock
Gold enamel dots
White and red gel pens
Distress ink - Scattered straw
Silver cord
CottageCutz Ornament die - Bulb
Peachy Keen face stamps - 1 5/8"
Adhesive (tape runner, tearable tape, foam dots)

Cut out the ornament from yellow cardstock and the cap from silver cardstock.

Sponge the yellow distress ink around the edges of the ornament to add some depth.

Cut the cardstock panels to create the card.  Because this is an easel card, you will need to score the 11" x 4 1/4" panel at 5 1/2" and 2 3/4".

Adhere the silver cap to the top of the ornament, then stamp and color the face, as shown.

Complete the front of the card with the patterned paper, ornament die-cut, twine, and enamel dots.

Because this is an easel card, you will need to place adhesive on the small bottom section of the card base.  I used tearable adhesive tape for ease of application.  Adhere the bottom of the card front to this bottom section of the card base.  Create the easel by folding on the score lines.  Then add a "bumper" by placing a large enamel dot onto a foam pop dot and place in the center of the underlying base at a point where you would like the card to stand.  Then add a few more enamel dots, as shown.

CCEE1648 - Eat a Red Apple Day

December brings us a new hostess for the CCEE Stamper challenges, Maryann.  She tells us that today is Eat a Red Apple Day, so in the spirit of Christmas, she asked us to create something that includes the color red.  This is a challenge definitely close to the heart of CCEE stamper Ann!  My card doesn't have an apple, but it definitely is RED!

Peachy Keen stamps and CottageCutz dies are partnering to show how well their products go together.  I just love this cute little peppermint-nosed guy!   The CottageCutz die sets used on this card are Nested Ornaments: Ball and Holly Berry Mini.

Be sure to check the CCEE Stampers blog for more RED cards.

Scor-Pal and CottageCutz - Pop-Up Box Card

The Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" challenge for December is "anything goes."  I decided on a cute little pop-up box card that you could give someone "just because."    Just because you like them and want to brighten their day.

I've got a tutorial here on my blog showing how to make a similar box.  Check it out here.

Celebrating Bunny Rabbit

I have to tell you that I have fallen in love with all those cute little critters in the October release from CottageCutz -- In the Forest.  Today I'm bringing you a card, which I was a bit unhappy with initially; but with the addition of a couple of elements, I am quite happy.

Supplies for this card:

Cream cardstock cut 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", folded in half
Chocolate cardstock cut 3 3/4" x 5"
Cream cardstock, kraft cardstock approx. 3 3/4" x 4 3/4" for cutting ovals
Patterned paper cut 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"
Scraps of cardstock red, green, white, black
Distress ink - Weathered Wood, Walnut Stain, Bundled Sage, Tumbled Glass
Markers - black, pink

I began by cutting out the pieces from the Deer and Rabbit Peekers, the Tree Stump and Log for Peekers, and Earmuffs and Mittens dies.

I then sponged some color on the rabbit and stump pieces to give them some depth. I colored the inside of the bunny ears and the nose with markers.

I cut out the layers and die cut the ovals . . .

. . . sponged some ink for the grass and sky on the cream-colored oval and constructed my card.  However, at this point I was not very happy with the card.  It definitely needed something.  The bunny didn't really look too happy peeking out from that stump.  I had an idea about how to cheer him up, so I die cut the balloon and the word "Celebrate."

Now, he looked better.  Here again is my completed card.
