Wide Woven Basket Birthday

I had a request from a friend of mine for a 70th birthday card for her sister with daisies, butterflies, and dragonflies. I pulled out several Karen Burniston die sets for this one. Unfortunately, the dragonfly in Flutter Charms was a bit larger than I would have liked; but fortunately, I had a smaller dragonfly from Cottage Cutz available.

I love the Wide Woven Basket. It makes such a pretty card.

I used the flowers from the Flower Pot Pop-up because they looked more like daisies than those in the Woven Basket set. After I glued in the daisies, I decided to back them with some acetate for more stability. The butterflies and dragonflies are mounted on strips of acetate so that it looks like they are flying in the air.

I gave the card to my friend this morning, and she loved it. She can't wait to give it to her sister.

CCEE2230 - Butterflies

Frances starts her month as hostess for the CCEE Stampers by saying that butterflies seem to be very popular right now.  Many companies have released products featuring them this year.  She asked us to create a card that features one or more butterflies.

A few years ago, Stampin' Up released a huge butterfly stamp which I really like.  I have used it many times.  A favorite way to use it is to stamp it in white, emboss it, and then sponge a color on top -- wiping away the color from the white embossing.  It looks quite striking, wouldn't you agree?  The sentiment is a Simple Strips saying from Taylored Expressions.

On the inside of my card are some more butterflies on the relatively new smaller collage die from Karen Burniston.

Be sure to check out the CCEE Stampers blog for some more butterflies.

Karen Burniston Sneak Peek - Day 3

Another one of Karen Burniston's new dies being released next week is the Heart Collage Pop-Up.  This is very similar to her previously-released Photo Collage Pop-Up (which I love), but it is smaller and will fit in a slimline card.  There are two add-ons that can be used with the Heart Collage -- the Butterfly Add-on and the Balloon Add-on.  My card is using the Butterfly Add-on, as well as the Happy Birthday and Shadow.

You have to watch any catch points, but this is a really fun die to use.
