Happy Star Wars Day

May the 4th be with you!!!   Happy Star Wars Day!

I hadn't played with Karen Burniston's Photo Collage Pop-up in a while, and I thought it would be perfect for a Star Wars Day card.  It's for my son, who is a Star Wars fan, as am I.

The stamps are from a couple of Kindred Stamps sets, Galactic Adventures and Galactic Travel.

I had to do a bit of word-surgery to create the sentiment for this card.  Obviously, we don't have a "Happy Star Wars Day" die, but we do have a "Happy Father's Day" die, which is what I used.  After cutting the sentiment and the shadow, I cut the words apart -- discarding "Father's" and gluing the words to the shadow.  I then carefully cut around "Happy" and "Day."  The other letters are from Karen's Mini Alphabet and Numbers set.

I decided that I would use the same color cardstock for each of the photos rather than make them multi-colored.  The blue is just slightly lighter than the cardstock I used for the base of the card (and the background for the characters).  I had to place the Millenium Falcon and the X-wing fighter strategically so that they would not create catch points when the card is opened.   That is the same reason the oval for my signature is oriented vertically rather than horizontally.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - "Vacation"

 This month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge is all about vacations.  Where would you like to go for vacation -- to the beach, to the mountains, to a big city you've never visited?  I decided that a "dream vacation" would be a trip around the world.  How fun and exciting would that be?!

For the front of my card I used the little photo frames from the Photo Collage Pop-Up and the Circle Crosshatch, adding the sentiment using the Mini Alphabet & Numbers die and one of the dies from Word Set 6 - Summer.  And just for the record, my first choice of a destination would have been those pyramids in Egypt.  That's really the only place outside of the U.S. I've ever had a desire to visit.

And my world tour continues on the inside of the card.

I'm not much of a traveler, but I have been to several of these places in my life -- not many, but some.  I was born in Philadelphia, so the Liberty Bell was a no-brainer.  I now live in Florida and have visited the Kennedy Space Center on several occasions.  The only other three places I've seen for myself were the Grand Canyon, New York City (Statue of Liberty), and Washington DC (Washington Monument).

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek - Day 6

I'm showing off some more new dies from Karen Burniston today.   I combined the Happy Birthday sentiment with the new Shadow die and several charm sets on the front of my card -- the Wine Charms and the new Big Birthday Charms.  

A couple of weeks ago Tanya Doner-Kostynuk demonstrated a card on the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo @Home event showing how you could use the Photo Collage Pop-Up with something other than the photo elements.  She inspired me, and I made the inside of my card using some more of the Big Birthday Charms on the Photo Collage.  How fun is that!!!

CCEE2133 - Photography Day

Apparently today is Photography Day.  For our challenge this week, Frances asked the CCEE Stampers to include something on our cards that is photographic-related -- a photo/photos; images of photos, cameras, etc.

One of my favorite Karen Burniston dies is the Photo Collage, and it was the perfect choice for today's challenge.  I combined it with two separate stamp sets -- Paper Nest Dolls Essential Workers and LDRS' Today's Heroes.  The camera is from Hampton Arts.

CCEE2116 - Tea Day

Frances continues as hostess for the CCEE Stampers this week and told us that April 21st was Tea Day.  She said to create a card that features tea or coffee.   I was never a coffee drinker -- tea has always been my choice.  So this challenge was right up my alley.  I pulled out some old stamps and a fun Karen Burniston die to make my tea card.

CCEE2045 - Men Make Dinner Day

 Kelly starts her month as hostess for the CCEE Stampers with a great challenge.  Did you know that the first Thursday in November is National Men Make Dinner Day?  I sure didn't!  She asked us to create a card men (or critters) showing off their cooking skills.  My neighbor Mark loves to cook, and he recently had a birthday.  I made this card for him.

The front has Riley the Moose showing off his cooking skills, and the inside has many items you might find your guy cooking.

The inside was made using the Karen Burniston Photo Collage Pop-Up die -- a really fun pop-up die!  The items on the panels are a mix of her Fast Food Charms and some free clip art.

C4C36 - Photo Month

Apparently, May is Photo month, and the Crazy4Challenge challenge this week is to include something that relates to photos this week . . . a card including a real photo, faux photos, selfie style stamps, cameras, etc.

One of my favorite Karen Burniston dies is the Photo Collage Pop-Up, and one of my favorite book/movie franchises is Lord of the Rings.  I combined these two loves on my card this week.  Kindred Stamps has a few stamp sets that were perfect for my card.

CCEE2017 - Interactive Cards

Frances has a great challenge for the CCEE Stampers this week!  She says, "Anyone who knows me knows how much I love cards that pop, slide or move in any shape or form.  For our challenge this week, let's create an interactive card -- what type you make is up to you."

I LOVE this challenge; like Frances, I am a big fan of interactive cards.  Another one of my favorite things is the world of Harry Potter.  I combined these two passions in my card today.  Using some digital stamps from Bugaboo and Witt & Sass, plus the Photo Collage Pop-Up die from Karen Burniston, I created this card.  The castle on the front is a digital stamp from Kindred Stamps.

Have a BEE-Youtiful Day

We are all supposed to be staying inside our homes to reduce the spread of this horrible coronavirus.  I have been using that time to play with some new (and old) stamps and dies.  I recently purchased a series of bee stamps from Honey Bee Stamps and used it on my card for today -- along with one of my favorite Karen Burniston die sets, the Photo Collage Pop-Up.

The front of my card uses part of a Beehive Card die along with a set of stencils.  There are four stencils in the set, but I used just two of them on my bee hive.  I love the way you can cut the opening to see the little Cottage Cutz bees on the inside.

The inside is where the fun happens.

Aren't those Honey Bee bees adorable.  I love the fact that the faces are on separate stamps, so that you can change the expression as you want.

I've made many cards using the Photo Collage, and I have a feeling that I will be making many cards with those cute bees!

Gingerbread Cookie Day

In honor of Gingerbread Cookie Day, I have a card today using a really cute gingerbread set from Paper Nest Dolls and the Karen Burniston Photo Collage die set.  I had so much fun making this card.

Isn't that a sweet gingerbread house?  That would be a special card just looking at the front; but, when you open the card, it gets better.

The rubber stamp set has 6 pieces (the house and five gingerbread people).  I actually bought the digital images and was able to adjust the size to fit into the photo frames.  The sentiment is from a Kindred Stamps Wacky Holiday set from last year's Gingerbread Cookie Day.

CCEE1927 - Freedom Week

Vicky starts her month as hostess for the CCEE Stampers with a great challenge.  She says that, since both Australia and the USA have red, white and blue for their colors, we should use those colors to make a card.  It does not have to be for a holiday -- just red, white and blue.

I bought a pad of 6" x 6" patterned paper some time ago with those colors as the theme of the pad.  I chose one of my favorite patterns to make this patriotic card, inasmuch as today is the 4th of July.

The surprising part of this card is the inside.  Karen Burniston just released 20 new dies -- one of which is a Photo Collage Pop-Up.  Such a fun die!!!  I used it on the inside to display some 4th of July fireworks.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge -- Picture This

The Karen Burniston Designer Challenge this month is "Picture This," the perfect choice for one of the brand-new dies being released this month -- the Photo Collage.

My daughter and several of her friends have annual passes to some of the local theme parks, one of which is Sea World.  They recently were at the opening of the Sesame Street-land section and posted many photos on Facebook.  I took the opportunity to grab some of her photos and put together my card, which I gave to her the other day.  (I may have created a monster because she said her friends my very well want one of them, too!)  The front of the card gives a little hint as to what is inside.  I used a couple of the dies from Word Set 6 - Summer, as well as one of the Crosshatch Squares.

When you open the card, BAM!

It just amazes me how the mechanism works and displays all those photos without binding up.  I made a quick video to show how this works.

These dies will be shipping mid-July, so get ready to have some fun!!!

National Camera Day

Today is National Camera Day, and to celebrate it I made another card showcasing a soon-to-be-released die set from Karen Burniston called the Photo Collage Pop-Up.  The new dies will be shipping mid-July, but the Design Team has been busy creating for a few weeks.

My son, his wife and son recently went on a cruise with another couple and their son.  Like many people nowadays, they posted lots of photos on Facebook.  I took the opportunity to grab some of these photos and used them on my card -- which I will be giving to them soon.

The front of the card gives a little peek at what is to come.

But the inside is where all the action happens.    As you can see, it looks like they had a good time.  Oh, by the way, that little camera is part of another new die set, Memory Charms.

 And don't you just love the push pins and binder clips.  They're both part of the die set!

One of the dies in the Photo Collage set is a die to create a little pop-up mechanism that unfolds all the photos as you open the card.  Check out the video to see how it works.

Day 2 of Karen Burniston Sneak Peeks - Photo Collage

This is another really fun, well-engineered die set being released by Karen Burniston.  It's the Photo Collage, and I don't know how she managed to figure this out so that all the pieces don't get tied up in a mish-mash.  It's brilliant!

Using the Get Well Charms, I created a fun get-well card, hopefully to cheer up the recipient.

When you open the card, you can see how well thought-out the design of the die was.

The "photos" on this collage are all part of the Get Well Charms set, but the band-aids are an old (very old) $1 stamp I found in my stash.  I improvised a little bit for the prescription bottle up there in the corner.  The bottle part is the Coffee Cup charm, with the Wrapper used as the prescription label.  The lid is actually the dog dish die from the Cat & Dog set.
