Fall Bake Sale

I made a Side Step Card today, using several of the new Autumn dies from CottageCutz.

To start my card, I cut cardstock as follows:

Wood plank cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Cream cardstock pieces - 7/8" x 5 3/8", 2 7/8" x 3 1/4", 3 3/8" x 7/8", 3 3/8" x 2"
Orange plaid paper pieces - 3/4" x 5 1/4", 2 3/4" x 3 1/8", 3 1/4" x 3/4", 3 1/4" x 1 7/8"

A side step card is a relatively easy fun fold.  To show you how to cut and score, I made a little diagram.

After I cut and scored the wood plank cardstock piece, this is what it looked like.

I then glued the orange plaid pieces to the cream pieces and adhered them to the card base.

I then cut the Autumn Sweets and Pumpkin Pie and Latte dies from cream cardstock.

After coloring the pieces with Copic markers, using the packaging as a guide, I constructed each of the images.

I also cut the word "fall" from the Fall Phrases die and  rolling pin from the Bake Shop die and stamped the words "bake sale," using my old Snap Stamps.

I then adhered all the die-cut pieces to the card base, gluing the "fall" and rolling pin and using foam pop dots on the others . . .

. . . and my card was complete.

Dad's Tool Box

Today's card is a labor of love.  My late husband was an auto mechanic, who had several large tool chests, chock full of the tools of his trade.  When I saw the new "Just for Guys" release from CottageCutz, and particularly the die called "Dad's Tools," I knew I would have to make a card like this one.

If you've followed my blog at all, you know that I love fun-fold cards.  This card is a variation on a side-step card, but with only one step on the side rather than two.  To start the card, I cut a piece of 110# red cardstock 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".  I cut a slit longways down the center (at 2 3/4") from the 3 1/4" mark to the 7 1/2" mark.  Then I scored the left side at 4 1/4" and the right side at 3 1/4", 6 1/2" and 7 1/2".

For the small pieces, I cut cardstock as follows:

Red - 5 1/8" x 5/8", 2 3/8" x 2 7/8", and 2 3/8" x 5/8" (2 pieces)

Silver - 5 1/4" x 3/4", 2 1/8" x 3", and 2" x 2 1/2"

Medium Gray - 2 1/4" x 2 3/4"

On the three small pieces, I drew a horizontal black line at 1/4" and then scored on that same line.

I then adhered Scor-Tape on the sides and bottom of each piece.

The three pieces were then adhered to the silver pieces.  The gray piece was centered on the coordinating silver piece, and the red door piece was vertically scored at 1/4" from the left side and attached over the gray piece, as shown in this photo.  I drew a black line around the gray piece to give a bit more dimension.

These were then glued to the front of my step card.

I drew some lines inside the door to give the effect of the floor and shelf.

I then cut the images from the Dad's Tools die -- in both silver and white, picking out which pieces would be silver and which ones would be colored . . .

. . . and constructed the various tools.

My husband's tool check was on wheels, so using die-cut pieces from both the Classic Car and the Train, Bike and Plane dies, I made some wheels for the bottom of my tool chest.

I added the wheels to the bottom of the front of my card and placed the other die-cut pieces in the drawers and/or cabinet, utilizing one of the unused silver screwdriver handles as a handle on the cabinet door.  Because the wheels were rather small, I decided to reinforce them by cutting a strip of clear acetate packaging about 1" high and long enough to span the space between the wheels.  I added some Scor-Tape to the top and sides.

I adhered the acetate strip between the wheels, stamped an appropriate sentiment on a small piece of silver cardstock and glued it to the front of the cabinet door -- and I was finished.

CCEE1720 - Fun Fold Card

As you probably know, I love making fun-fold cards.  So I asked the CCEE Stampers to make a card for today's challenge that has more than one fold.  It didn't have to be complicated, just more than just a "fold in half" card.

Woodlands Scenery

Today I have used quite a few CottageCutz dies and stamp/die sets on my card.  If you know me at all, you probably know that I love making fun-fold cards -- so it will be no surprise to see that my card is a Side-Step Card.

Supplies used on this card are:

Green cardstock - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"

Pale blue cardstock 1 3/4" x 3 7/8" and 1 3/4" x 3 1/4"

White cardstock for stamp/die sets

Scraps of brown and two shades of green for shrubbery

Copic markers

Liquid glue and tape runner

Fiskars paper trimmer

Scoring board

To make the card base, I placed the 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of green cardstock into the paper trimmer with the long edge at the 3 1/2" mark.  With the cutting blade at the 1" mark, I cut a line down to the 6 3/8" mark.  Placing the long edge of the card base at the top of the scoring board, I scored the wide section at 1", 2", 3 1/8", 4 1/4" (all the way across the center of the card), and 6 3/8" and folded on the score lines so that my card looked like this:

Using my Copic markers, I colored and cut the various stamps from both the Woodlands and Woodland Animals sets.

Then I cut the shrubbery from the scraps of green and brown, using the Spring Grass, Spring Greenery, and Campfire Clothesline dies.

I stamped the sentiment at the top of the tall pale blue panel and assembled my card.  Here is a close-up of the steps of the card.

CCEE1708 Tic Tac Toe

It's Liz's final week as hostess for the CCEE Stampers, and she gave us a fun challenge this week.  It's a Tic Tac Toe game.  We were to pick three blocks -- vertically, horizontally, or diagonally on this grid.

I chose the blocks horizontally across the bottom row.  Even though I used an owl, which is a bird, I think it still would qualify as a wild animal.  I love making fancy fold cards, so it was a no-brainer that I would chose the row which includes that one.  And I did both wet and dry embossing.

Center-Step Mushrooms

If you have followed my blog at all, you know that I love making fun-fold cards.  One of my favorite fun-folds is a center-step card, one of which I have for you today.  I'm using more of the In the Forest 2016 release from CottageCutz dies.

Supplies for this card are:

Green cardstock cut 10 1/2" x 5 1/4"

Chocolate cardstock cut 3 1/2" x 4" and 3/4" x 5"

Cream cardstock cut 3 3/8" x 3 7/8" and 5/8" x 4 7/8"

Scraps of green, red, gray, and brown cardstock

Distress ink - Bundled Sage, Tea Dye, Walnut Stain, Fired Brick, Weathered Wood

Sponge applicators

CottageCutz dies - Mushrooms and Greenery, Forest Critters, Mushrooms mini, Thank You, Grass with Cattails

Polka-dot patterned paper

To create the card base, lay the green card base into a paper trimmer longways at 3/4".  Cut a slit from the 1" mark to the 6 1/4" mark.  Move the card base to the other side and repeat.  Score outside the slits at the 1", 2" and 6 1/4" mark.  Score between the slits at the 5 1/4" mark.

Fold at the score lines with a mountain fold at the 1" mark, valley fold at the 2" mark, mountain fold at the 5 1/4" mark, and mountain fold at the 6 1/4" mark, creating the stepped base of the card.

Cut the various small pieces using the dies, using adhesive sheets behind the delicate greenery and sentiment for ease of attaching to the card.  I did not need the cattails on the grass pieces, so I trimmed them off.

Sponge the lower edge of the cream panels with green ink.  Layer the cream panels to the chocolate panels and adhere to the card base.  Color the die cut pieces with distress ink as you desire and adhere the large mushroom, one of the small mushrooms, snails, and greenery to the cream panel as shown on the photo.  Adhere the grass pieces, other two mushroom, mouse and hedgehog to the small cream strip, as shown.  Place the sentiment in the upper right-hand corner.

Cut two strips of patterned paper 1/2" x 4" and adhere to the side panels as shown.  You can place a piece of cream cardstock on the inside if you wish.
