Karen Burniston Designer Challenge "Bunny Ears"

Easter is at the end of this month, so it was appropriate for the theme of the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge for March to be "Bunny Ears."  I chose the Landscape Rectangle Accordion die as the base for my card, making a little scene for the front, using the bunny rabbit from the Spring Animals set and some small flowers from Fun Flowers for the front panel.

I found some cute Easter egg paper in my stash for the second panel, just adding the Happy Easter and Shadow.  

The third panel is just a little different.  I used two of the small frames that come with the Landscape Accordion and added an Easter basket from the new Animal Add-ons 5 and a butterfly from the Backyard Charms.

As you can see, I used another one of the new dies, the Easter Borders, along the bottom edge of the entire card.

CCEE2213 - "No Housework Day"

Liz Williams starts her month-long stint as hostess for the CCEE Stampers by celebrating "No Housework Day."  She told us to spend the day in our stamp rooms, celebrating by doing a "Free for All" card theme of our choice.  

I spent almost a complete day on this Easter card, so I guess that qualifies for this challenge.  The front didn't take all that long . . .

. . . it was the inside that took most of the day.

I attached the bunny to a separate piece of cardstock so that he could stand independent from the card.

Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" Challenge

It's time for the Scor-Pal "More than One Score" challenge again.  As Easter is this month, I thought an Easter card would be appropriate.    I haven't made an easel card in quite a while, so I thought that would be fun.   In addition to the two scores required for the card base, I also scored the crease lines on the ribbon.  

The bow and the Easter eggs are from Cottage Cutz, and the border die across the top is from Karen Burniston . . .

Scor-Pal More Than One Score -- Spring/Easter

The theme of March's Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" challenge is Spring/Easter.  My card is a Screen Divider Z-fold card celebrating Easter.

To make the card, I cut my cardstock 5 1/2" x 10 1/2", scored it at 3 1/2" and 7", and then punched across the top with a border punch.  By punching a Fancy Label Punch in the center of each panel, I created the legs of the screen.

I've had that cross stamp for a very long time and love to use it on Easter cards.  The Easter lilies balanced each other on the first and third panel.

Happy Easter Circle Charm

Today is Easter, and I have a happy little Easter card for you today.  I recently purchased the Karen Burniston Circle Charm Pop-Up die and used it, as well as several other KB die sets, to make this card.

Following the great video instructions Karen Burniston has on her website, I was able to construct this card with little or no trouble at all.  Yellow and purple always make a nice color combination for an Easter or spring card.   I cut the sentiment die with both colors and layered them.  Using several of the circle dies from the main die set, along with the Crosshatch Circles, I decorated the front.

The inside has the same purple gingham background, and the little chick rotated to the inside when the card is opened.  I used the butterfly which came with the Circle Charm Pop-Up, added the egg from the Easter charms along with the rabbit from the Spring Animals set.  The two rectangular panels were created with the Crosshatch Rectangle dies.   I've already sent this card to my sister (another Karen Burniston fan) and signed it on the right-hand rectangular panel.

Easter Picture Changer

I recently purchased a Lawn Fawn Magic Picture Changer die and have been having lots of fun with it.  Today's post is an experiment to see if I can post a video to my blog, having recently bought a new camera with video capabilities.

The fun of this die is that your card is interactive -- with two different pictures and/or sentiments  on it.

Designer Challenge - Spring or Easter

This month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge is to make a card depicting spring or Easter, incorporating the Easter Charms, Spring Animals, or Happy Spring into it.  I decided on Easter and wanted to incorporate "He is Risen" into my card.  I chose the Woven Basket Pop-Up die, which is my current favorite, and a cross (that I stamped and fussy cut) with that sentiment on it, as well as one of the dies in the Easter Charms set.

I decided that the cross needed a bit of support, so I slipped a piece of clear acetate behind it.  And, as you can see, the card will fold flat for mailing.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge -- Tiny Accessories

The Karen Burniston Designer Challenge this month is to create a card of any theme but use some of the dies from Tiny Accessories 1 and/or Tiny Accessories 2.  These are two fun die sets!

As Easter is right around the corner, I decided to have an Easter Parade, of sorts, on a Fancy Label Accordion card.  I chose some of Karen's adorable animals and dressed them up for Easter.  I actually took the turkey from Feathered Animals and made him look like a peacock to start the parade.

When you open the card, you will see three lovely couples all dressed up and ready to party.

Aren't they so very fashionable?

CCEE1906 Amethyst for February

Maryann is the CCEE Stampers hostess for the month of February.  She reminded us that the birthstone for February is the amethyst and asked us to make a card using a shade of purple and include gem stones or charms.   Purple is one of my favorite colors (along with orange), so this challenge was a delight!  I pulled out a new Karen Burniston die -- the Circle Tag Book Pop-Up -- and made an Easter card.

I added some gem stones to the front, and on the inside I used some of the new Karen Burniston Easter charms -- the chocolate bunny and the Easter eggs.

Spring Basket with Bunnies

Today is my final opportunity to show off an Easter card on the CottageCutz blog.  I used one of the dies from the Spring/Easter release, as well as a basic shape die I recently acquired -- the Nested Wacky Stitched Rectangles.

To start my card I cut the Spring Basket images from a piece of white cardstock and placed them on my sticky board.  For some reason they look blue on this photo; but please believe me, they are white.

Using some Copic markers, I colored each one of the pieces.  The packaging shows the basket all in one color, but I wanted to make it look a bit more realistic.

I then cut the pieces for my card base:

White cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Purple cardstock - 4" x 5 1/4" and 3" x 4"
Patterned paper - 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
The pale purple cardstock was cut using the second largest Nested Wacky Stitched Rectangle die.

I layered the patterned paper on the larger purple rectangle and adhered them to the white card base.  Then I assembled the die-cut pieces onto the pale purple die-cut piece and adhered it to the smaller purple piece.

This was then attached to the card base using large foam pop dots, and a small Easter greeting was stamped in the corner.  You can see how these foam dots, as well as the ones behind the chick and tan bunny, give the card some dimension.

Here again is my finished card.

Miss Petunia Bunny

CottageCutz's Spring/Easter release has lots of cute dies.  I'm using three of them on my card today -- Happy Easter Phrase, Miss Petunia Bunny, and Spring Meadow.   Before I explain about my card, I first wanted to remind you that there is a 25% discount sale on the newest Rise and Shine in the CottageCutz store, with lots of cute breakfast and cooking dies.  Be sure to check them out while the sale continues.

Before cutting out the dies, I put a sheet of two-sided adhesive on the back of a piece of white cardstock to make adhering the smaller die-cuts easier.  To tell the truth, I waver back-and-forth between using the adhesive sheets and not.  Either process will work well if you have a fine-tip applicator on your glue for when you don't use the adhesive sheet.

After cutting out the pieces, I colored them and constructed each element.  I used a black mini brad for Miss Petunia's eye.

Then I gathered the supplies for my card base:

White cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Sky patterned paper - 4" x 5 1/4"

Brick patterned paper - 4" x 1 1/2"

I then constructed my card base, adding the "Happy Easter" phrase.  

After slipping Miss Petunia between the rows of grass, I placed the egg on the wall, and stuck the flowers (from the Happy Easter Phrase die) to the stems within the grass.  I tend to work "by the seat of my pants" and realized that the phrase didn't really stand out as much as I had envisioned, so I pulled out my Dark Green Wink of Stella brush and went over the lettering.  I was much happier with the result -- it now glitters!

Easter Basket

Easter is just a few weeks away, so for today's CottageCutz blog I made an Easter card.  I had bought a pad of patterned paper a few weeks ago at Hobby Lobby that had several pieces that looked just like a woven basket, and I've been wanting to use it.  Today is the day!   My card, using one of the Spring dies (Spring Flower Eggs), is pretty simple.

To start, I cut the eggs three times -- from yellow, pale green, and purple cardstock.

Using a fine-tip glue applicator, I glued the cut-out eggs to the solid back pieces, alternating the colors.

Then I cut my cardstock:

Cream - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Patterned paper - 2" x 5 1/4"

The handle was cut from tan cardstock, using the largest CottageCutz Pierced Wide Oval Frame die.

Using a wide-angle corner punch, I rounded the bottom corners of the basket-weave patterned paper.

I wrapped some purple ribbon around the oval frame/basket handle, taping it in place.

I taped the handle to the back of the basket and added the eggs.  Then I adhered some foam tape strips around the basket and the frame.

Removing the protective paper from the tape, I adhered the basket to my card base.  I added a large foam pop dot behind each egg and a strip of ribbon and bow to the basket, and my card was finished.
