Wicked Cool Birthday

Many years ago I read Wicked by Gregory Maguire and enjoyed it very much.  Since then I have seen the play.   Hopefully, I'll get to see the movie.  But, in the meantime, I have made a card.  That patterned paper from My Favorite Things seemed to be the perfect choice.

On the inside we find Glinda and Elphaba resting on the Karen Burniston Little Labels Pop-up.   The sentiment stamps come from two different KB stamp sets, Photo Memories and Birthday/Belated.

I like that several of Karen's label dies have different size labels, so you can mix and match.  I used labels from two different sets -- Little Labels Pop-up and Paper Frames.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  I hope you come back again.

Karen Burniston New Release Day 6

I'm still in the beach/ocean mode with today's sneak peek.  Those Sea Charms and Beach Borders are so cute!  My card today combines them with the Wide Woven Basket Box Card from the last release as well as several other previously released sets.  This shows that Karen's dies are perfect for combining with each other.

Not only did I place the crab Beach Border around the bottom of the Woven Basket, but I also placed a couple of the cut-apart crabs in the water with the mermaids.  A section from the Castle Pop-Up set adds a sand-castle background.

Only a few more days to wait before the new dies are available for purchase.  They will be on the Karen Burniston website on Monday, February 20th.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - Mini Slimline Cards

The theme for this month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge is "mini slimline cards."  Both mini and regular-sized slimline cards are so very popular at the moment.  I admit that I have succumbed to the latest "fad" in card-making as well, so I really enjoyed making a card for the challenge.

My daughter is a big fan of mermaids, so she will probably wind up with this card.

I used two of the newly released die sets on this card -- the Short Rectangles - Crosshatch and the Mini Alphabet and Numbers.  I am a big fan of that alphabet set, by the way.  I added the "you are" from Word Set 11 - Treasure and a mermaid from the Princess and Mermaid set.  The background is a piece of patterned paper from Whimsey Stamps, one of their packs of slimline backgrounds.

CCEE2108 Fairytale Madness

Manal finishes up her month as hostess for the CCEE Stampers with a fun challenge.  She reminded us that we all have been huge on fairytales in our childhood (and the inner child in us still adores them).  She asked us to create something featuring a favorite fairytale/carnival or a circus.  The choice was ours.  I decided to Google "fairytales" for inspiration.   From the huge list I found I chose a Scandinavian fairy tale --  The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson.  It was included in a book called Fairy Tales Told for Children.

Those cute little mermaids were constructed using the Karen Burniston Princess & Mermaid die set.  I used a white gel pen to highlight the waves behind them.

I'm looking forward to seeing what fairytales the rest of the CCEE Stampers team have used for inspiration for this challenge.  Check out the blog to see for yourself.
