CCEE1444 -- Let's Make a Scene

Today the CCEE Stampers were asked by Liz and Lynn to make a scene, and I took the opportunity to try a technique I saw on Splitcoaststampers called a Bendi Frame, for which Kittie Caracciolo wrote a great tutorial, shown here.  My card is supposed to be a depiction of my back yard, and it's pretty close.

Here's an actual photo of my yard, so you can be the judge:

I live in a townhouse development, and you can see that my fence is actually a privacy fence rather than a picket fence; but I do have a palm tree back there.   I don't have cats, but my neighbor's cat has made my backyard his second home!  BTW,  we dug up the grass soon after we moved in 27 years ago and put down mulch.  I don't have much of a green thumb, and mulch seemed to be the better choice -- and the crotons give me some color back there.  Out of camera range is a small patio that has a bistro table and two chairs as well as a rocker.  I can go back there (when it's not too hot or rainy) and read.  And, when it's in bloom, my hibiscus is beautiful!

Be sure to check out the rest of team's scenery over on the CCEE Stampers blog.

Again I'm not part of the official blog hop team, but I did make two cards using today's set Polka Dot Country.  Continuing with my "theme" of using layouts from Page Maps, here is another one of October's layouts:

And here is my card using this layout as a starting point:

Because of the shape of the images in today's set, I used squares instead of circles for my elements.

And here's my second card for today, sort of an old-fashioned country sampler:

I hope you visit the official blog hop team and comment on their cards for a chance to win a free stamp set.

I'm not an official part of today's blog hop, but I do have a couple of cards for you today. Several years ago I discovered a website, Page Maps, which for the most part is for scrapbook layouts. But they have a quarterly section with layouts for greeting cards also. So each day this week, I'm going to use one of the layouts from the current (October 2014) section. This is the layout for my first card:

And here is my card loosely using this layout:

I eliminated some of the elements and moved the sentiment to the top.

This set has two owl images in it, and I used the other (larger) one on another card.

I cut the W H O O letters out of the same "wood" paper that I used for the background on my first card. And I don't know if you can see them, but I put some circular "dew drops" on his eyes to make them bulge a little bit more.

Be sure to visit the member of the official blog hop team for today and comment often for a chance to win a free stamp set.
