C4C608 - Texture

The instructions for this week's Crazy4Challenges challenge were to "add some texture with a dimensional liquid or paste element on your card.  Some examples are texture, crackle, molding or embossing paste, glass bead gel, Liquid Pearls, Nuvo Mousse, Crystal Glaze or Glossy Accents (used dimensionally rather than as a glue)."

My choice for texture was some Thermoweb Glitz glitter gel and a Sugar Pea Designs stencil to create my treasure map.  Other parts of the map (the tree, the compass, and the "X") were sponged with ink.

The inside of the card has a treasure chest made with Karen Burniston's die.

CCEE2143 - Create a Scene

For her final CCEE Stampers challenge this month, Frances asked the team to create a card that features a scene of some type -- outside or inside.

Last month, one of my challenges to the team was to make a card inspired by a new technique they had seen, and my card was a Bay Window card.  I took that same technique, cutting actual windows in the front, to create my card for today's challenge.  I used several Karen Burniston dies to decorate my Christmas window -- the garland from the Street Lantern Pop-up, the tree and decorations from the Christmas Tree Pop-Stand, and the wreath from the Sleigh Pop-Up.

You can see how the Bay Window is formed from this top view.

Be sure to check out the CCEE Stampers blog for more scenic cards.

C4C607 - See Through

The challenge for the Crazy4Challenges team this week was to use vellum or acetate on our cards.  Easy challenge!  My project, however, is not a card; it's a Halloween treat box, made with the Creek Bank Creations Tunnel Card die.  After cutting out the "wrap around" panel using the die, a piece of acetate is glued in the opening.

They also have a die for the drawer part, but I was able to create it without using a die.

Check out the Crazy4Challenges blog for some more "see through" projects.

CCEE2142 - Number It

For this week's CCEE Stampers challenge, Frances asked the team to include a number or numbers on our crations this week.  We could make an aged birthday card, use number-themed designer paper or embossing folders or dies.  Anything goes, as long as there is a number somewhere!

Halloween is right around the corner, so that's where I went with my card this week -- noting the date with the Karen Burniston Alphabet and Numbers dies.

Using one of the new Karen Burniston Add-on sets to the pop-up balls die, I created a jack-o-lantern for the inside.

C4C606 - Sketch Challenge

This month's Crazy4Challenges Sketch Challenge was initially a little intimidating for me.

But after I studied it a little bit, it reminded me of a stage, with a curtain at the top; so that's how I approached it and came up with this card.  I used a stamp set from Kindred Stamps for the image and some masking paper so that I could sponge in the spotlight.

Check out the Crazy4Challenges blog to see how the rest of the team handled this sketch.

CCEE2141 - Mini Slimline Card

Just like Slimline Cards, Mini Slimline Cards are also becoming very popular.  So Frances asked the CCEE Stampers to create a Mini Slimline Card.  Typically Mini Slimline Cards are either 3 1/2" x 6" or 3" x 6".  More information on Mini Slimline cards can be found in the files section of the Slimline Card Addicts Facebook Group.

For my card I pulled out an old Stampin' Up stamp set called Four Feathers and a new-to-me Gina Marie set called Tribal Stitched Mini Slimline dies.

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog for more mini slimline cards made by the team.

C4C605 - White, Ivory, Gold

Today's Crazy4Challenges instructions were to create a project using only white, ivory, and gold.  Does that sound intimidating?  Use different textures and finishes of paper to make your layers stand out.  Rebecca said that she likes to use glitter and metallic papers with texture from stenciling with pastes and embossing folders.

I used papers from a 12 x 12 pack of white, gold and ivory papers to make a celebration card, which could be for anything -- a birthday, an anniversary etc.  I also used a couple of dies from Karen Burniston -- Wine Charms and Word Set 2 - Birthday.

Check out the Crazy4Challenges blog for some more ideas.

CCEE2140 - Balloons Around the World Day

Who doesn't love balloons?  Not Frances Byrne, who is this month's hostess for the CCEE Stampers.  For her first challenge this month she asked the team to include a balloon or balloons on our cards to celebrate Balloons Around the World Day, which was October 5th.

I recently purchased a grab bag from Taylored Expressions.  I had no idea what would be contained in the bag and was pleasantly surprised with this cute set, which contained a hot air balloon.   Riding in a hot air balloon was one of the items I have checked off my bucket list.

For the inside I used a couple of new dies from Karen Burniston, the Iron Fence Pop-Up and pieces from the Long Nature's Edges 2 set.  I pulled out a hot air balloon from a design by Karen Burniston when she was designing for Elizabeth Craft Designs and added it to the Katherine Label Pop-Up mechanism.

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see how the rest of the team celebrated this fun special day.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - "Haunted"

The theme for this month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge is "Haunted" -- very appropriate for the month of October.   My card is a pop-up with the Holiday House on the front and Jack Pumpkinhead on the inside, made with the Bitty Ball and Character Add-ons 1 - Halloween.

When you pull off that belly band, up pops Jack!   Karen Burniston has Exact Packs of 100 pound cardstock appropriate for each one of the Animal Add-on sets.  I used several sheets from Exact Pack 1, which in actuality is for Animal Add-ons 1, but the colors lend themselves very nicely to Halloween as well.

Hope you like my card this month.  It was lots of fun to create.

C4C604 - Favorite Song

For this week's Crazy4Challenges challenge we were to be inspired by our favorite song to create our project.  Please be sure to list the song with your entry.  You can be inspired by the title, the lyrics, the overall theme or genre of the song.

One of my favorite singers these days is Ed Sheeran; and, when I first heard his song Castle on the Hill, I was really touched.   It brought back many memories of my youth -- not that we had a castle on the hill or anything, but the feeling of the song was very nostalgic.  So that's what inspired my card this week, with a little bit of Harry Potter thrown in for good measure.  The background paper is from a slimline paper pad by Whimsy Stamps.

If you've never heard this song, here's a link to a video

Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" Challenge

It's October, the month for jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, goblins -- Halloween!  My Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" card for today is a Z-fold Box Card, made just a little differently.  For the "box" I used the new Karen Burniston Iron Fence Pop-up die.  I had to do a little bit of "engineering," but I was able to get the fence to fold just at the right spot for the z-fold box.

I added a graveyard background and some ghosts, and we are all ready for a very Happy Halloween!
