Happy Star Wars Day

May the 4th be with you!!!   Happy Star Wars Day!

I hadn't played with Karen Burniston's Photo Collage Pop-up in a while, and I thought it would be perfect for a Star Wars Day card.  It's for my son, who is a Star Wars fan, as am I.

The stamps are from a couple of Kindred Stamps sets, Galactic Adventures and Galactic Travel.

I had to do a bit of word-surgery to create the sentiment for this card.  Obviously, we don't have a "Happy Star Wars Day" die, but we do have a "Happy Father's Day" die, which is what I used.  After cutting the sentiment and the shadow, I cut the words apart -- discarding "Father's" and gluing the words to the shadow.  I then carefully cut around "Happy" and "Day."  The other letters are from Karen's Mini Alphabet and Numbers set.

I decided that I would use the same color cardstock for each of the photos rather than make them multi-colored.  The blue is just slightly lighter than the cardstock I used for the base of the card (and the background for the characters).  I had to place the Millenium Falcon and the X-wing fighter strategically so that they would not create catch points when the card is opened.   That is the same reason the oval for my signature is oriented vertically rather than horizontally.

CCEE2223 - Father's Day

This coming Sunday is Father's Day, and Lynn asked the CCEE Stampers to create a card for the father of our choice (be it our father, our son, a neighbor, a friend, etc.) personalizing it by showcasing his favorite hobby.  I made my card for my brother -- who likes a good mug of beer and is a former construction worker.  (I don't know if they constitute "hobby," but he does enjoy both activities.

I used several Karen Burniston dies on this card -- both newly released and previously released.  The new one is the Landscape Rectangle Accordion.  The previously released ones are the Happy Father's Day sentiment (which I snipped into separate words), Happy Hour Charms, Cheers, Tool Charms, and the Purse Pop-Up.

Be sure to check out the CCEE Stampers blog for more Father's Day cards.

Scor-Pal "More Than One Score"

Father's Day is this month, so my card for the Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" challenge is quite masculine -- and is also an experiment.  I took one of the tutorials on the Scor-Pal website, Pockets & More Pockets, and made a tool box for Father's Day.  It didn't turn out exactly like I imagined it, but it works nonetheless.  That photo in the right-hand bottom corner is the back of the card.  That cool metallic-looking paper is part of a photo paper pad I've had for a very long time.

The tools in the "drawers" are from both Karen Burniston and Creek Bank Creations.

Karen Burniston Sneak Peek - Day 5

Some time ago, one of the designers on the team asked Karen Burniston to make a set of tools.  Karen is very accommodating.  My first card uses this new set -- Tool Charms -- as well as another new die -- Happy Father's Day, again with a shadow.

My second card for today uses the cute Tiny House Pop-Up -- this time making it a dog house.

Here is a really close-up so you can see how the inked-up element of the roof looks.

I used a label maker to create the sign over the door with Rex's name on it.

I'd love for you to stop back again tomorrow for some more previews of Karen's new dies.
