Coffee Cup Cards

Karen Burniston had a Virtual Class earlier today in which she showed us two different cards using the Coffee Cup Pop-up.   I haven't used that particular die set a great number of times, so I took advantage of the class to expand my horizons.  As I have an abundance of patterned paper in my stash, I decided to make use of my own supplies for the cards.

The first card has some faux Polaroid photos on the front, which I thought looked pretty cool.

The inside of the card can be made with or without a gift card.

The second card is a 4 1/2" square get-well card.  On the front of the card are a couple of die cuts from the Get Well Charms die set.

With a little surgery, the "coffee cup" on the inside was transformed into a cup of soup.

Again, there are a few die cuts from the Get Well Charms.

I enjoy Karen's classes.  Her engineering background shines through the designs.  By the way, if you are interested in trying to make these cards, the video will be posted to Youtube shortly.

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek - Day 2

One of the new pop-up dies from Karen Burniston this month is the Tea and Coffee Pop-Up.  As a tea drinker, I was so happy to see this one.   I remember as a kid if I was not feeling well, my mom would give me a cup of hot tea and a couple of pieces of toast to settle my stomach.  So I thought a get-well card would be appropriate use of this die.

As you open up the card, there is a mechanism that moves the tea bag.  And take notice of the border across the top of the inside of the card.  That's from the new Tea & Coffee Borders set.

As you can see, there's even a die for some steam coming off the top of that hot tea!

Thanks for visiting my blog during this sneak peek week.  I hope you'll come back tomorrow.

Riley & Company STAMPtember Collaboration

Riley & Company is again collaborating with Simon Says Stamps for STAMPtember.  The stamp set is called It's Your Day.  Members of the Karen Burniston Design Team have made some fun cards using this stamp set.

I've made two cards with this set along with some Karen Burniston dies.  The first one is a birthday card with lots of balloons.

On the inside are more balloons and the Karen Burniston Cake Pop-Up set, along with the Happy Birthday w/Shadow dies and Crosshatch Rectangle set.

My second card is a get-well card using the Landscape Rectangle Accordion die, some pretty plaid paper, and the Get Well Charms.

STAMPtember is always a lot of fun.  Some of the other Karen Burniston Design Team members have mae cards using this set as well.  I'm sure you can find them on the Karen Burniston Pop-Up Peeps page on Facebook.

Karen Burniston's Purse Pop-Up

Another one of the new dies from Karen Burniston is the Purse Pop-Up.

I've made several cards using this fun die -- one as a purse and the other as a suitcase.  But I think the one that was the most fun to make was the doctor's bag for a get-well card.    I computer-generated the sentiment on the front and added a couple of Karen Burniston's Get Well Charms.

But the inside is where the fun comes in.  I used black cardstock to make my doctor's bag and added several of the Get Well Charms as well as some die cuts made from a couple of CottageCutz dies.

Sandy Diller, another design team member made the purse into a tool box.  I wonder how many other variations of the purse we can invent?

CCEE2009 - Pocket Card

Anne winds up her month as hostess for the CCEE Stampers with a technique challenge.  She says, "Pocket cards are such fun.  Use any technique to make one."  My favorite pocket card technique is the Criss Cross Pocket Card.   I used some bold colors and Karen Burniston dies to make this cheery Get Well card.

See what pocket card techniques the rest of the team used by popping over to the CCEE Stampers blog.

Day 2 of Karen Burniston Sneak Peeks - Photo Collage

This is another really fun, well-engineered die set being released by Karen Burniston.  It's the Photo Collage, and I don't know how she managed to figure this out so that all the pieces don't get tied up in a mish-mash.  It's brilliant!

Using the Get Well Charms, I created a fun get-well card, hopefully to cheer up the recipient.

When you open the card, you can see how well thought-out the design of the die was.

The "photos" on this collage are all part of the Get Well Charms set, but the band-aids are an old (very old) $1 stamp I found in my stash.  I improvised a little bit for the prescription bottle up there in the corner.  The bottle part is the Coffee Cup charm, with the Wrapper used as the prescription label.  The lid is actually the dog dish die from the Cat & Dog set.

To show you how well the photo collage unfolds when you open the card, I made a little video.

All of the dies can be pre-ordered from Karen Burniston and will ship mid-July.  Thanks for stopping by my blog today and be sure to come back tomorrow for another sneak peek.
