Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

It's time again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month's theme is "Mealtime," and two of the new dies for July were perfect.  I've been having very much fun with Mealtime Elements and Dessert Elements over the past month, and my card for the challenge uses both of them.

I had seen a card made by another Design Team member (Sue Small-Kreider) on which she made a whole pie out of the slice of pie die in Dessert Elements, and I wondered how it would look as a pizza.  Going with that idea, I made my card look like an Italian dinner.  I used the colors of the Italian flag (green/white/red) as the color choices on my card.  I haven't used the Circle Charm Pop-up in a while, so I pulled it out and made it the base of my card.

On the front there is a lead-in -- what is an Italian meal without a glass of wine?

Opening up the card there's a plate of spaghetti and meatballs and a pizza.  I added some pepperoni to the pizza with a darker red Copic marker.  Because of the size of the plates, you can't see much of the red & white checked tablecloth on those two panels.  When normally making the Circle Charm Pop-up, the center circle is just a ring on which a charm would hang; but I covered the ring with a full circle panel to accommodate the plate of spaghetti.

The sentiments on both the front and inside of my card are part of the new Mealtime Phrases clear stamp set, part of the new July release.

CCEE2110 - Learn About Butterflies Day

 This week Frances asked the CCEE Stampers a question:  "Did you know that the 14th of March is Learn About Butterflies Day?"  She asked us to include at least one butterfly on our cards this week.  

My card was an experiment to see if the Karen Burniston Circle Charm die could be used on a slimline card.  As it turns out, it can!

It's Karen Burniston's Birthday!

It's Karen Burniston's birthday, and the design team has decided to share the fun with everyone with a Birthday Blog Hop.

I have been having so much fun creating slimline cards and seeing how I can incorporate the various Karen Burniston dies into them.  For my birthday card I used the Circle Charm Pop-Up, some Wine Charms, and one of my favorite colors -- PURPLE.

We all have piles of 12 x 12 patterned paper, I am sure.  It is the perfect size to use on a slimline card because you can get three panels out of one sheet of paper -- one for the front and two for the inside.

The image on the front is from an old stamp set I had, but the inside circles have die cuts from the Wine Charms die set.  I hung the champagne glass from the center circle with a jump ring and glued down the wine bottle and wine glass to the third circle.    I added two panels I had cut using the Crosshatch Rectangles, putting Happy Birthday on one, and a champagne bottle on the other.  There is plenty of room to write a birthday message on that one!  I added some Glossy Accents to the glasses and the wine bottles and scattered some enamel dots throughout.

I had another piece of that same patterned paper, so I lined the envelope to make the perfect set!

Karen Burniston Sneak Peek #2 -- Office Charms

I've got another sneak peek at a new Karen Burniston die set today, this time one of her cute charms sets -- OFFICE CHARMS.  Karen has so many clever charms dies and this one is no exception.  It has all those essentials you need in an office.

I combined several of them on this Circle Charm Pop-up card, which could be a gratulations card for a new job or a job well-done.  Several of the charms in this set are larger versions of dies already in the Karen Burniston arsenal  (the binder clip and the push pin) along with several new ones (the scissors, the pencil, and the paper clip, as well as a heart).

I've been having lots of fun using the new dies Karen Burniston has for us this release.  They are all very generic, so you can use them all year 'round.

Happy Easter Circle Charm

Today is Easter, and I have a happy little Easter card for you today.  I recently purchased the Karen Burniston Circle Charm Pop-Up die and used it, as well as several other KB die sets, to make this card.

Following the great video instructions Karen Burniston has on her website, I was able to construct this card with little or no trouble at all.  Yellow and purple always make a nice color combination for an Easter or spring card.   I cut the sentiment die with both colors and layered them.  Using several of the circle dies from the main die set, along with the Crosshatch Circles, I decorated the front.

The inside has the same purple gingham background, and the little chick rotated to the inside when the card is opened.  I used the butterfly which came with the Circle Charm Pop-Up, added the egg from the Easter charms along with the rabbit from the Spring Animals set.  The two rectangular panels were created with the Crosshatch Rectangle dies.   I've already sent this card to my sister (another Karen Burniston fan) and signed it on the right-hand rectangular panel.
