C4C544 Sketch Challenge

This week's Crazy4Challenges has a sketch challenge.

I used several new, soon-to-be-released dies from Karen Burniston on my card.  The cover plate, which is called Pattern Plate - Fronds, and the cute little giraffe (from a set called Safari Animals) are the new dies.  They are available for pre-order now and will be shipping on August 3rd.

Go Hog Wild!

It's Sneak Peek Time!  Karen Burniston has 16 new dies which are available for pre-order right now and will be shipping on August 3rd.    One of the fun dies is a smaller version of Karen's very popular Surprise Ball Pop-Up.  The new one is called Bitty Ball Pop-Up.  And to add to the fun, there are two additional sets designed so that making animals is much easier.  The one I'm using today is Animal Add-Ons 1.

      

The idea behind the Bitty Ball Pop-Up is that it is smaller and can be used as the head of your animal -- more in proportion than using two Surprise Ball Pop-Up elements.

The front of my card is relatively simple -- just the birthday sentiment and one of the previous animal dies -- the Pig.

But, when you open the card . . . 

. . . up pops the 3-D pig!  How fun is that!!!  The Bitty Ball Pop-Up requires a smaller rubber band than the Surprise Ball Pop-Up, but I just tied an additional knot in the #16 rubber band that I use for the larger ball.   I combined a new sentiment die (Go Wild) with the Alphabet dies to create a fun birthday wish.

CCEE2029 National Hot Dog Day

Continuing as hostess for the CCEE Stampers this week, I reminded the team that yesterday (7/15) was National Hot Dog Day and asked them to make a card using something you would have at a picnic -- a hot dog, a hamburger, a checkered tablecloth, or maybe some ants.

I used every one of those suggestions on my card, using some brand-new dies from Karen Burniston, which will be available for pre-order today!

Scor-Pal Patriotic Challenge

As hostess for the July Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" challenge, I have the instructions for my Patriotic wiper card.

Two pieces of cardstock cut 4 1/4" x 8 1/2"
One piece of cardstock cut 1 1/2" x 3"
Scor-Pal
Scor-Tape

Score one piece of the 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" cardstock at 1 1/2" and 3".
Score the other piece the same.

Fold both strips as shown.

Place the 1 1/2" x 3" piece of cardstock as shown, with the right-hand corner at the 1" mark.  Score at the 1" mark.

Place two small pieces of Scor-Tape at the score line.

Place the small strip in the left-hand small section so that the diagonal score line is just below the top of the card.

Place Scor-Tape on the small outside section of both strips, as shown.

Adhere the two panels as shown, with the small "wiper" strip at the top left.

When the card is closed, the "wiper" will fold down between the two sections.






Now it's time to decorate the card.

White cardstock cut to 4" x 5 1/4"
Blue cardstock cut to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
Two small white strips cut to 1 1/4" x 4"
Two small blue strips cut to 1 1/8" x 3 7/8"
Two pieces of patterned paper cut to 1" x 3 3/4"
White cardstock cut at least to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (larger than will be required to allow trimming)

Create sunset background on the white cardstock using Distress Oxide inks -- Seedless Preserves,  Abandoned Coral,  Worn Lipstick, and Frayed Burlap.




Stamp images and trim to 3 3/4" x 5"   Layer the two small panels and adhere to the two left-side small sections.  And the card is complete.

I cut out and attached a small American flag to the wiper.

C4C543 - Colors of the Beach

Today's Crazy4Challenges theme is "colors of the beach."  Hostess Rebecca said that, when she thinks of summer, these colors come to mind:  turquoise, peach, pink and sand/gold; and she asked the team to make a card using these colors.

I've got another slimline card today using those colors.  I just love these Heartfelt Creations images.

CCEE2028 - Don't Step on a Bee Day

Tomorrow (7/10) is Don't Step on a Bee Day.  I've got a simple challenge for the CCEE Stampers this week -- use a bee on your card.  Easy-Peasy!

I have been obsessed with slimline cards lately, and today's challenge gave me another opportunity.   That cute little bee girl is a digital stamp from Paper Nest Dolls.

I decided to add some interactive fun on the inside and used the Karen Burniston Katherine Label and a stamp I've had for years.  I stenciled some honeycombs as a background.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - Two Folds

It's time again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month the challenge was to make a card with two folds.   This could be a side gatefold, a top gatefold, a side fold with an extra card inside, a z-fold, a double easel, etc. Any theme!

My daughter asked me to make a card for her to give to her friend who was turning 50. I decided that this would be the perfect time to make my designer challenge card. I made a gatefold card with a Surprise Ball Pop-Up on the inside. The balloons on the belly band are from the Explosion Pop-Up die set.

I even made an envelope to match.

When you slip off the belly band, up pops some birthday balloons mounted to the Surprise Ball Pop-Up. The "billboard" was made with the Circles - Crosshatch dies.
