Buzzing By to Say Hello

I've got a cute little mini slimline card for you today -- using several Karen Burniston dies, the main one being the new Little Twist Panel.

The front of the card actually features several dies from the Flutter Charms set along with a sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps.  And, as you can see, I made a little shaker element out of the honeycomb die.

Also on the front are dies from one of the Border Blends sets and the hello die

The new die (the Little Twist Panel) is on the inside, along with a couple bees from the Flower Pot Pop-Up set.

I carried the Border Blends die-cut inside and added a couple of flowers from the Tiny Trees Pop-Up set to the flags.  The panel on which to sign the card was made using the Crosshatch Ovals.  Both patterned papers used on this card are from Honey Bee Stamps.

This is just a cute little card you could send to anyone just to say "hi."

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge -- Bunny

As Easter is right around the corner, the theme for this month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge is BUNNY.  I thought an Easter basket would be appropriate as well, choosing the Wide Woven Basket for the base of my card.

I've got not one, but two bunnies (Spring Animals) in my basket -- one holding an Easter egg and one holding a little Easter basket.  I added a few more Easter eggs (Easter Charms) and some spring flowers (Flower Pot Pop-Up), as well as the blossoming tree from the Tree Pop-Up in the rear.  As you can see, I also added some braiding around the top of the basket.  This was made from two Border Blends - Trims die-cuts braided together.  I added the Happy Easter sentiment from the Easter Charms set onto the front, having cut a shadow by drawing around the die and cutting with scissors.

This little basket will find its way onto my table for Easter dinner.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - "Vacation"

This month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge is all about vacations.  Where would you like to go for vacation -- to the beach, to the mountains, to a big city you've never visited?  I decided that a "dream vacation" would be a trip around the world.  How fun and exciting would that be?!

For the front of my card I used the little photo frames from the Photo Collage Pop-Up and the Circle Crosshatch, adding the sentiment using the Mini Alphabet & Numbers die and one of the dies from Word Set 6 - Summer.  And just for the record, my first choice of a destination would have been those pyramids in Egypt.  That's really the only place outside of the U.S. I've ever had a desire to visit.

And my world tour continues on the inside of the card.

I'm not much of a traveler, but I have been to several of these places in my life -- not many, but some.  I was born in Philadelphia, so the Liberty Bell was a no-brainer.  I now live in Florida and have visited the Kennedy Space Center on several occasions.  The only other three places I've seen for myself were the Grand Canyon, New York City (Statue of Liberty), and Washington DC (Washington Monument).

I hope you enjoyed sharing "my dream vacation."  The rest of the members of the design team are also sharing their vacation dreams today.

Karen Burniston New Release Blog Hop

 Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our Karen Burniston Products - KB Riley LLC February Release Blog Hop. The Design Team have come together with Karen today for a fun blog hop to celebrate the release of 6 new dies. Sneak peeks of the new release started last week, and the dies are available to order NOW!

This release includes:
  • 1 new Charm die set
  • 1 new Word set
  • 1 new Tiny House Add-Ons set
  • 1 new Pop-up die set
  • 1 new Crosshatch die set
  • 1 new Border die set
Dies are available to order now on the website.

For my card today, I chose the new Little Twist Panel Pop-Up set and created a full-size slimline card with two sets of panels.  The front of the card features a stamped image and sentiment and some scattered sea creatures.  The shells are from a previously released set, Tropical Scene.  There are some new items on the front as well -- the fish and crabs.  They are part of Beach Borders.  Actually, Beach Borders (as the name suggests) are border dies.  I cut a couple of the images apart and used them.

Inside the card, you'll see the how two Little Twist Panels are used side-by-side.  And you can see what the Beach Borders look like intact.  I did not use the little banners for this particular card, opting just to cut some sand patterned paper, covering the holes in those center panels. By the way, the patterned paper used for the background for the front and bottom panel inside are from a slimline pack from Whimsy Stamps.  The top inside panel was ink blended.  I added a couple of the Octagon shapes from the Bam Box Pop-Up for my sentiment inside.  Also in the new release is another charm set -- Sea Charms.  I used four of the charms inside the frames.

To celebrate the release Karen Burniston and each of the Karen Burniston - KB Riley LLC Design Team members will be giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to some lucky person who comments on our blog posts, so make sure you join the hop and comment on everyone's blog post. Final Karen Burniston Sneak Peek

Tomorrow is the day the new Karen Burniston dies are available for purchase.  For my post today I've got two relatively simple cards for you -- no pop-ups -- just two cards made using the new Rectangles and Labels Crosshatch set.   These dies actually make larger cards than the standard A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

My first card is a 5 x 7.  I made a layered frame by using the two largest dies in the set, cutting them together.  It is popped up, using foam strips.

Also used on this card are the Santa and Gnomes, Happy Birthday, and Birthday Charms.  The gnomes and gifts are popped up on foam tape.

My second card is a 4 x 6, using the next two layered rectangles, decorated with the flowers and leaves from the Flower Pot Pop-Up set.

In this photo you can see the difference in the sizes.

Tomorrow is the day!  All of the new dies will be available for purchase on the Karen Burniston website then.  Don't forget about our Blog Hop tomorrow.  You will have many chances to win a $25 gift certificate to Karen's website just by commenting on each of the blogs in the hop.

Karen Burniston New Release Day 6

I'm still in the beach/ocean mode with today's sneak peek.  Those Sea Charms and Beach Borders are so cute!  My card today combines them with the Wide Woven Basket Box Card from the last release as well as several other previously released sets.  This shows that Karen's dies are perfect for combining with each other.

Not only did I place the crab Beach Border around the bottom of the Woven Basket, but I also placed a couple of the cut-apart crabs in the water with the mermaids.  A section from the Castle Pop-Up set adds a sand-castle background.

Only a few more days to wait before the new dies are available for purchase.  They will be on the Karen Burniston website on Monday, February 20th.

Karen Burniston New Release Day 5

I've got another Beach Hut for you today.  Inspired by Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge card from last month, I've been adding a couple of Bam Boxes inside the Tiny House to make it pop-up in places other than the fold.

I could add only one Bam Box to the Beach Hut because of the window in the front.  I have found that two boxes inside the house give a bit more "oomph" to the pop-up movement.

My card is a modified gate-fold card, similar to the one Karen made -- although my card is an A2 size rather than a 5 1/2" square card.  I used some of the dies from the new Word Set 16 - Beach Happy Hour on the front, as well as waves from Tropical Scene.

I carried the layout from the front to the inside -- waves and sand.  The add-on set has a couple of palm trees, and I added one to the back of the hut with some foam strips.

The cocktail glasses are glued onto a strip of acetate which I had glued inside.

These new dies will be available for purchase on Monday, February 20th.
