Christmas in July

The Karen Burniston Design Team is having so much fun with this new release, which is currently available for pre-order and will be shipped beginning August 3rd.  Today I've got another slimline card, but this time I'm using the Bitty Ball Pop-Up and the Gnome & Santa set.

I was curious to see if the Bitty Ball would fit in a slimline card.  It does -- just barely.  The dimensions of this card are 4" x 9".  Santa is on the front with a couple of evergreen trees from the Christmas Tree Pop Stand and a pile of gifts, which act as the place to tie the closing twine.  I added some decorations to the tree by adding a couple of strands of garland, a/k/a the Border Blends.

I used a piece of pattern paper on this inside which mimics the trees on the front and decorated the Bitty Ball as a Christmas ornament.

C4C545 - Collage

Collages are fun to make.  The Crazy4Challenges challenge this week is to make a background from various different paper elements or use a paper that already looks like a collage.  In an old pack of 12 x 12 Christmas paper, I found one pattern which is a sepia collage.  I thought it would work well with a slimline card.  I added a couple of tree ornaments, a die-cut sentiment, and some enamel dots.

Check out the Crazy4Challenges blog for some more collage cards.

It's Karen Burniston's Birthday!

It's Karen Burniston's birthday, and the design team has decided to share the fun with everyone with a Birthday Blog Hop.

I have been having so much fun creating slimline cards and seeing how I can incorporate the various Karen Burniston dies into them.  For my birthday card I used the Circle Charm Pop-Up, some Wine Charms, and one of my favorite colors -- PURPLE.

We all have piles of 12 x 12 patterned paper, I am sure.  It is the perfect size to use on a slimline card because you can get three panels out of one sheet of paper -- one for the front and two for the inside.

The image on the front is from an old stamp set I had, but the inside circles have die cuts from the Wine Charms die set.  I hung the champagne glass from the center circle with a jump ring and glued down the wine bottle and wine glass to the third circle.    I added two panels I had cut using the Crosshatch Rectangles, putting Happy Birthday on one, and a champagne bottle on the other.  There is plenty of room to write a birthday message on that one!  I added some Glossy Accents to the glasses and the wine bottles and scattered some enamel dots throughout.

I had another piece of that same patterned paper, so I lined the envelope to make the perfect set!

Be sure to check out the rest of the blog hop and see how the other members of the design team are wishing Karen Burniston a very happy birthday.

CCEE2030 - National Zookeeper Week

The third week in July is National Zookeeper Week.  I asked the CCEE Stampers to create a card with a zoo animal on it.

One of my all-time favorite Karen Burniston dies is the Fancy Label Accordion die.  I've got three zoo animals on the various panels of my card, along with a sunset scene from the African veldt.

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see how many zoo animals you can find.

More Fast Food!

The sneak peeks of the new Karen Burniston release continue.  While I don't eat fast food a great deal, I have fallen in love with the Fast Food Charms.

I had watched Karen's card for the Designer Challenge this month (which was a double slimline card) and knew I wanted to give it a try.  In addition to the Fast Food Charms, I also used some of the Sweet Treat Charms, one of the Border Blends, the Oval Crosshatch, and part of the new Happy Anniversary sentiment dies on my card.

Here are some close-ups of the "treats."

Stay tuned.  More sneak peeks to follow!

Karen Burniston New Release Blog Hop

The excitement has begun -- time for a new release from Karen Burniston.  She has 16 new dies in this release, and you can pre-order them NOW!  Shipping will start August 3rd.  The design team has been showing sneak peeks for several days, and to celebrate this new release we are having a blog hop -- and you have a chance to win one of seven $25 gift certificates to the Karen Burniston store.

I have been having lots of fun with this release.  The card I have to show you today is made with the Pop 'n Swap die.

My 12-year old grandson William recently became SCUBA certified, and I made this card for his parents.  On the front, peeking out of that little window, you can see a photo of him as a baby.  The sentiment is from another Karen Burniston die set -- Word Set 11/Treasure.

When you open the card, the small photo folds down behind the sentiment panel, and another one pops out from the bottom.  This one shows William in his SCUBA gear, of which he is very proud!  I made the sentiment using a label maker.  The sun is from another new die set -- Landscape Scene.

This video shows how the mechanism works.

Each member of the design team is giving away a $25 gift certificate, so make sure you comment on each blog post for more chances to win!  Entries can be made until Monday, July 27th.

Jungle Basket

And the sneak peeks of the new Karen Burniston dies continue!  Today I'm showing off the Safari Animals, as well as parts of the Landscape Scene and Go Wild sentiment.

One of my favorite dies from Karen Burniston is the Woven Basket, so I made a little jungle scene in the basket, adding a piece of acetate to support the tree in the background.

All of the dies in the new release are available for pre-order and will be shipped beginning August 3rd.
