CCEE1634 More Herbs, Less Salt Day

It's Liz's last week as hostess for the CCEE Challenge, and she really gave me a challenge.  She writes:  "Herbs and plants add so much to our lives, so in honor of this unusual day, make a card with an herb or plant on it.  I know we have lots of followers who love gardening, so any of these images would work great."   I have no images of herbs, so I opted for a vegetable garden.  I hope that qualifies for this challenge.

For the second day of the Autumn Fun Blog Hop, I decided to do a technique that I just recently learned.  It's sort of a combination of a gatefold card and an easel card.  When it is closed, it just looks like your standard gatefold card with a belly band.

The surprise comes when you take off the belly band and open it up.  Voila!!!   Pretty cool, no?

The MFP Stamp Shop set that I used on this card is Scarecrow.

I decided to make a second card today, using a technique to which I often return -- the Side Step Card.

Let's get started HOPPING !!

As the title of this month's Blog Hop is Autumn Fun, I decided that I would do things that are fun for me -- techniques.  Each day I will have a card or two that use a different technique.  My first technique is a Shaker Card.

 To make my card, I stamped the image on the right side of a piece of white card stock, carefully cutting out the pumpkins.  Then I stamped the image again on a small scrap and formed the shaker box with foam tape around the pumpkins.  After brushing the sides of the foam tape with baby powder, I added the seed beads and covered the box with acetate.  Then I glued it to the under side of the larger piece of cardstock, lining up the images.  I put additional strips of foam tape around the edge of the card stock panel so that it would sit flat on the card base.

CCEE1633 - National Aviation Day

Our CCEE hostess this month Liz is celebrating her birthday tomorrow.  It is also the birthday of Bill Clinton and Orville Wright.  Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a proclamation to make it National Aviation Day, in honor of the Wright brothers.  In their honor, Liz asked us to hunt down an image of something man has made fly in the air.  It might be an airplane, helicopter, rocket, jet, or hot air balloon.  If none of those were available, we could use a kite or a simple birthday balloon.  Our bonus can be to make it a birthday card.  I chose a hot air balloon -- in fact, two hot air balloons.  AND . . . it's a birthday card!

CCEE1632 - National Catfish Month

Liz continues as CCEE Stampers hostess and tells us that August is National Catfish Month.  Fishing is a year-round sport and hobby.  For our challenge this week, we were to find a fish or someone fishing.  I pulled out my Heartfelt Creations Under the Sea set to make my card.  These stamps are just too much fun!

Liz had said that this challenge might give us a chance to make a masculine card.  I don't think my card quite fills that bill.  Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see if the rest of the team took her advice.

CCEE 1632 - Sisters Day

A new month, a new CCEE Stampers hostess.  Liz is our hostess this month,  and she reminds us that she and another CCEE Stamper, Lynn, are sisters.  She tells us that, when they were asked to join the CCEE team together, they both thought it would be fun to be doing it together.  So, for your sister card, find an image of a pair or group of ladies or girls who just might be sisters doing things that sisters like to do.  Like Liz and Lynn, I am fortunate to have sisters who love to stamp.  However, because we live states apart, I don't think the three of us have ever stamped together.    I have stamped with each one of them individually, but never together.  So we can pretend that the ladies on my card are Dotsy, Jeanette, and Lois -- all having fun!  BTW, none of us is as thin as these gals!  LOL!!!

Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" - Birthday Card

The "More than One Score" challenge on the Scor-Pal blog today is to make a birthday card.  I recently purchased these great Under the Sea stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creations and have been having a grand time making cards with them.  I saw a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers for an Envelope Fold Card a couple of months ago and thought I would try it today.  Here is my card for the challenge.  Don't you just love those bubbles on the front!

When you open up the "envelope," you find a little underwater scene.
