Karen Burniston New Release Blog Hop

Hi Crafty Friends,
Welcome to our Karen Burniston Products - KB Riley LLC December Release Blog Hop. The Design Team have come together with Karen today for a fun blog hop to celebrate the release of 12 new dies. Sneak peeks of the new release started last week, and the dies are available to order NOW!

This release includes:
  • 2 new Pop-up Die Sets
  • 1 new Ball Add-on Die Sets
  • 4 new Border Die Sets
  • 2 new Sentiment Die Sets
  • 1 new Word Set Die Set
  • 1 new Tiny Accessory Die Set
  • 1 new Stand Alone Die Set

Dies are available to order now on the website.

My card was inspired by the fact that I live in Florida, where we enjoy the sun, sand, and surf almost all year long.  The front of the card is relatively simple, using a bit of surf for the background.  I used the "Enjoy the Ride" die set, substituting the word "sunshine" from Word Set 6 for "ride."  There is one new item on the front -- the surfboard from Beach Elements.

The inside carries forward that surfing theme with a surfing alligator!  I had made a more simple card using that same alligator from Bayou Animals.  I liked him so much that I used him again.  The main feature of the inside of my card is the double Lorna Label and it's "floating floor." Additional previously released sets included on this card are the Mini Alphabet & Numbers, Beach Borders and the "stand-up piece" from House & Fence onto which the alligator is attached.

To celebrate the release Karen Burniston and each of the Karen Burniston - KB Riley LLC Design Team members will be giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to some lucky person who comments on our blog posts, so make sure you join the hop and comment on everyone's blog post.  That's nine chances to win!  Winners will be randomly chosen from ALL of the blog hop comments received on our blog posts by Monday, February 26, 2024. Lots of chances to win some goodies, so just leave a comment on this post or any other blog hop posts to enter! Don't forget to leave some way for us to contact you, in case you are a lucky winner!  Your e-mail address is the best way to do this.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - Halloween

This month the Karen Burniston design team had a choice of either Halloween or Fall.  I chose Halloween.  I hadn't used the House and Fence die in quite a while, so I thought it was time to pull it out again.

For the front of my card I cut two Slim Pattern Plate - Bat die cuts and did a bit of surgery to create the background, adding a simple rectangle and the bat from the new Skeleton & Bat set.

With a little bit of help from the Haunted Tiny House Add-On set, the House and Fence set became Halloween-worthy.   Using some of the leftover bats cut from the front background, I added some spookiness to this little scene.  I trimmed two of the spooky trees from the Halloween Scene set, mounting them on the two "tree brackets" of the floating floor.

I love making Halloween cards, and this one was no exception.  Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Simon Says Stamp and Riley & Co. Collaboration for STAMPtember

STAMPtember is a fun month of collaborations between Simon Says Stamp and various other stamp companies.  Today that company is Riley & Company, and they produced a cute stamp set called I Like You.

I've made two cards using this fun set.  The first one is a slimline birthday card.  I combined this stamp set with a few Karen Burniston dies -- Long Nature's Edges/Long Nature's Edges 2 and Happy Birthday sentiment die.  That sentiment on the front really speaks to me!

The inside is a simple "Happy Birthday."

My second card uses another one of those humorous sentiments, along with the Karen Burniston House & Fence die set.  The background paper is from Divinity Designs.

I want to thank Simon Says Stamp for giving me the opportunity to play with this cute new set.

CCEE2128 - Cow Appreciation Day

Continuing as hostess for the CCEE Stampers, I told them that it's Cow Appreciation Day and asked that they put some kind of farm animal (cow or otherwise) on their cards.

I made a card that could welcome a new neighbor (with a bit of humor).

Be sure to stop over to the CCEE Stampers blog to see what the rest of the team created for this challenge.

Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" Challenge - Harvest/Fall or Halloween

We have a seasonal challenge on the Scor-Pal blog today -- Harvest/Fall or Halloween.  I recently was introduced to a marvelous card-making accessory -- EZ Lights by Pear Blossom Press.  They are a step (or two) up from the Chibi Lights/battery/copper tape route.  It's all of that (and more) in one little unit.  I made a Halloween Light-Up card for this month's challenge using one of them.  As the challenge also includes a "more than one score" requirement, I made a Z-Fold Box Card.

The fun part comes when you push that little message on the tombstone.  As you can see, the lighs come on inside the haunted house.

I made a little video so you can see how cool this looks.

Be sure to check out the Scor-Pal blog for some more autumn fun.

Cow Appreciation Day

According to the Holiday Insights website, today is Cow Appreciation Day; and they suggested that you go out and give a cow a hug.   Not one to back off from a challenge, I decided to give some love to the cow community today by making this card -- and putting a spin on a couple of Karen Burniston dies, several of which are brand new.

The spin on the front of the card is that I stacked two of the fences from the Farm Edges die to make it a little taller to keep the cow inside.  The base of the inside of the card was made with the House & Fence die, but I added the barn from the Barn Pop-Stand instead of the house.

How now, brown cow?  I didn't want all of my cows to be facing in the same direction, so for the brown cow I turned him over before adding the highlights.  And again, I stacked the fence, only by one rail this time.

So, I invite you to go out and hug a cow today!  Or, at the very least, drink a glass of milk!

Karen Burniston Sneak Peeks - Barn Pop Stand

Another of the new dies from Karen Burniston is the Barn Pop Stand.  Although this is a remake of a previous die, I had never used the old one; so it was a new experience for me.

It's a fun die, which has several other new dies that coordinate -- a scene builder set (Farm Edges) three animal die sets (Cow & Goat) (Chicken, Pig & Lamb) (Horse, Unicorn & Zebra) and a sentiment die (Howdy).

This is one of the cards I made with these dies.

As you can see, I used several animals as well as the Howdy sentiment.  A fun detail on the barn is that the doors slide open and closed.  To be perfectly honest, I did not use this die set as a Pop Stand.  I actually used the floating floor from the Karen Burniston House & Fence set as the base.  I wanted to have a raised barnyard.

Hope you like my first try with the Barn Pop Stand.  You'll be able to get your hands on this and all the new Karen Burniston dies in mid-July.
