CCEE2112 - Pencil Day

Frances told the CCEE Stampers that March 30th is Pencil Day.  For our challenge this week, we were to feature pencils, colored pencils, crayons, etc., on our card creations.   Either use this medium to color our image, or feature an image of pencils, crayons, etc.

It's been a long time since I've used colored pencils on my cards.  So it was a treat to pull out my Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol and get to work.  I recently purchased these Pink and Main Tall Flowers and thought they would be the perfect image on which to use pencils.  I like the way they look on the Pink and Main slimline plaid die cut.

CCEE1913 National Pencil Day

Kelly winds up her month as hostess for the CCEE Stampers by telling us that tomorrow is National Pencil Day and asking us to create a card coloring our image with colored pencils (no markers, no watercolors, etc.) or featuring an image with a pencil.  Since I discovered Copic markers, it has been a long time since I pulled out my Prismacolor pencils.  It was nice to use them again.  I used the Gamsol Magic technique, and I like the result you get with it.  If you've never tried it, here is a link to a tutorial explaining how to do it.

CCEE1311 - Pencils Only

I'm late posting my CCEE card for this week.  Sorry -- it's been one of those weeks.  Today's challenge was to use pencils.  I haven't used my Prismacolor pencils in quite a while, and I was glad for the little nudge.  My card today is a sneak peek at a new set from Mark's Finest Papers called Glad Glads, which will be released next week.

We'd love for you to play along with us.  Dust off those pencils and get coloring.

SCS Featured Stamper - Pat Smethers

As I was looking through today's Featured Stamper's (Pat Smethers) gallery on SCS and saw her ~Gentle Place~, at first I thought it was a one-layer card. But when I pulled it up to look closer, I saw that it wasn't. It was so pretty that I decided that I would CASE it -- as a one-layer card.

I recently met up with Faith Hofrichter (Markie's Mom) and Jeanne Forsyth (jaforsyth) in Mims, Florida. Jeanne's daughter was involved in an experiment going up in the Shuttle. Jeanne shared with Faith and me some tips on coloring -- both watercoloring and colored pencils. I think I was able to retain the pencil technique more than the watercoloring.

I stamped the swan image with Palette Noir Black and the cattails with Palette Burnt Umber. I used some of Jeanne's tips to give you a sneak peek of a new Mark's Finest Papers set called Our side of the Pond, which will be released later this week. The coloring was done mostly with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. The embossing around the edge was done with a square Nestabilities die.
