Oriental Screen Card Tutorial

Back in May I made an oriental screen card, based on a card I had seen on the Technique Junkies Newsletter website.  I have been asked to explain how I did it.  Here is another card I made using some stamps from this month's Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company sets.

Here are the directions:

Supplies used on my card:

Cardstock (MFP Deep Scarlet, Licorice Whips, Snow Storm Smooth)
Ink (Memento Tuxedo Black, Bamboo Leaves, Rhubarb Stalk)
Stamps (MFP Lotus Blossoms,  Be Virtuous,  Marsh Silhouettes, Dragonflies mini)
EK Success border punch
Stampin’ Up Curly Label punch
Copic markers
Stipple brush

Cut black cardstock in half – to 8 ½” x 5 ½”.

Punch across 8 ½” side with the border punch.

Score long side at 2 1/8”, 4 ¼”, and 6 3/8”

Center label punch in the scored areas and punch out legs.

Cut four red panels 2” x 4”.

Cut a piece of white cardstock to 3 7/8” x 8”.  Stamp images as desired and color.  After coloring, I stippled some Rhubarb Stalk into the blank areas.

Cut panel into four smaller panels 1 7/8” x 3 7/8”.  There will be a small section remaining.  Mat with red panels.

Glue panels into scored sections of card base.  And you’re done.  Again here’s my card.

If you like all things Oriental, I hope you give my tutorial a try.

This is gorgeous and I love the theme. You just saved the day for me. I am doing a season themed project using 4 season stamps as part of a challenge with my daughter. I wanted to do something that I could display all year. This is perfect and the size is also.

Thanks for sharing.
