Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek Day 3

What I like about Karen Burniston's dies is that they are, as Karen has said, backward compatible, meaning that new dies coordinate with old dies.  One of the previously released dies was the Triple Platform Pop-up, which is a very fun die.  I have combined that with the new Movie Night Charms for my sneak peek today.

The new dies are on the front of my card, along with the Postage Pop-up panel.  I decorated the Paper People with some Tiny Accessory charms to make them look they're from a western movie.

Then, on the inside, is the Triple Platform Pop-up decorated with the Popcorn die and sentiments from the Movie Night clear stamp sentiments.  The clapboard and movie tickets are also part of the Movie Night Charms set.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Come back tomorrow for another sneak peek and be sure to check out the blog hop next week for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Karen Burniston website.

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek Day 2

One of the interactive dies in this Karen Burniston new release is the Whirly Wheel.

To be truthful, I had a little trouble with this one the first time I used it.  However, Karen gave me a little tip which helped a whole lot.  There was less friction between the pieces when I put some clear tape on the cardstock before cutting the three main pieces.

The first card with this set that I'm showing you is a graduation card, also using the frog from the Leaping Animals set.

Here is that card.  I've had that cool graduation paper for quite a while and was glad to be able to use it.

For the inside I used the Oval Frames Pop-up with some more of the Graduation Elements die set and the Grad Greetings clear stamp set.  The books are from the Bookworm set.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  I'll have another sneak peek tomorrow.  And don't forget to check out our Blog Hop next week.  You'll have many chances to win a $25 gift certificate to the Karen Burniston website.

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek Day 1

It's an exciting day.  Sneak peeks of the new dies from Karen Burniston start today.  There are 10 new dies and 5 new coordinating stamp sets.  When Karen showed the design team the new dies, Nicky Foden made a comment that she saw me using the gowns from the Graduation Elements as robes and making a Harry Potter card.

Not one to back away from a challenge, I did just that.  I used some Gryffindor patterned paper on the relatively simple front.

And here are Harry, Ron, and Hermione on the inside wearing their robes.   I used dies from Word Sets 13 and 18 as well as the Mini Alphabet & Numbers set to create my sentiment.  The Graduation Elements set includes a banner with the word "congrats" on it; but, as you can see, the Mini Alphabet & Numbers set letters work perfectly as well.

I have had lots of fun using the new dies.  I'd love for you to stop back tomorrow for another sneak peek.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

It's time again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month's theme is "Animals & Characters."  I actually have both animals and characters on my card.

As I was trying to decide how I was going to meet this challenge, all the news stations in Orlando were talking about the opening of Epic Universe at Universal Studios, a new 5-park addition.  Two of the areas are Isle of Berk How to Train Your Dragon and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic. And that was all I needed -- an idea immediately popped into my head. In the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire there is a scene where Harry is riding on a dragon all over Hogwarts.

The front of my card has a flat version of the Castle Pop-up. The sun and cloud are from the Landscape Scene set.

Inside I mounted Harry on the Dragon flying in the Lorna Label Pop-up.  Harry was constructed using the Paper People and Tiny Accessories 1.  The dragon is from the Knight & Dragon set.  I love the patterned paper I used as a background.  It is from a paper pack by Stamp Anniething.   I have several stamp sets that are Harry Potter-related.  One of them includes a golden snitch, which I stamped, cut out, and glued onto the signature panel.

Thanks for stopping by my blog to see my Designer Challenge card.  I hope you come back soon.  By the way, sneak peeks of the new Karen Burniston release start next Monday, June 9th.

June Calendar Page

It's June 1st, time to change the calendar.  My friend Sue Small-Krieder and I are halfway through our calendar challenge.

May and June are graduation months, so I decided to have a graduating bookworm on my June calendar page.  Karen Burniston has a cute little Bookworm die set that I used on my page, along with several of the books from that same set.  The background graduation caps are a Creek Bank Creations stencil.

I must say that I have been having fun with this challenge.  I'm glad Sue asked me to join her.
