Let's get started !!
Today I have a combination card and Christmas ornament for you. Did you play with Shrinky Dinks when you were a kid? I did. And they have apparently had a comeback -- although now they're not necessarily called Shrinky Dinks. The sheets are called Shrinkable Plastic. Both my card and the ornament were made with the same stamp. You can see how much the shrinkable plastic does indeed shrink when heat is applied. I used my embossing heat gun and anchored the Santa by putting my piercing tool into the hole to keep it from moving all over the counter as I added the heat. You have to make sure that, if you plan to have a hole in the top of the ornament, the hole needs to be punched before you add heat!
Here's the Design Team members celebrating Christmas in July.
Enjoy the Hop. Come back each day for more Christmas fun. We hope to inspire you to start your Christmas cards and projects. Get to work on the tutorials, show us what you made and check back on August 15 to see if you are a winner.
Dear Lois the card is Santa-riffic and the shrinky dink santa ornament is fabulous! I still have some of the shrink plastic guess it's time to pull it out and use it again. thanks for sharing with all of us.

ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea to make the ornament match the card......a great little gift for someone! The Santa you picked has such a sweet expression. I have some shrinkable plastic but was afraid to try it out....you just gave me inspiration to make something with it! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove the shrink dink technique and using the heat gun to shrink it! Adorable card and ornament.
ReplyDeleteAdorable card and ornament. I certainly did play with shrinky dinks when I was a kid. Definitely proves everything comes back into fashion some day. Now to find my macramé, lol
