Karen Burniston New Release Blog Hop

 Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our Karen Burniston Products - KB Riley LLC February Release Blog Hop. The Design Team have come together with Karen today for a fun blog hop to celebrate the release of 6 new dies. Sneak peeks of the new release started last week, and the dies are available to order NOW!

This release includes:
  • 1 new Charm die set
  • 1 new Word set
  • 1 new Tiny House Add-Ons set
  • 1 new Pop-up die set
  • 1 new Crosshatch die set
  • 1 new Border die set
Dies are available to order now on the website.

For my card today, I chose the new Little Twist Panel Pop-Up set and created a full-size slimline card with two sets of panels.  The front of the card features a stamped image and sentiment and some scattered sea creatures.  The shells are from a previously released set, Tropical Scene.  There are some new items on the front as well -- the fish and crabs.  They are part of Beach Borders.  Actually, Beach Borders (as the name suggests) are border dies.  I cut a couple of the images apart and used them.

Inside the card, you'll see the how two Little Twist Panels are used side-by-side.  And you can see what the Beach Borders look like intact.  I did not use the little banners for this particular card, opting just to cut some sand patterned paper, covering the holes in those center panels. By the way, the patterned paper used for the background for the front and bottom panel inside are from a slimline pack from Whimsy Stamps.  The top inside panel was ink blended.  I added a couple of the Octagon shapes from the Bam Box Pop-Up for my sentiment inside.  Also in the new release is another charm set -- Sea Charms.  I used four of the charms inside the frames.

To celebrate the release Karen Burniston and each of the Karen Burniston - KB Riley LLC Design Team members will be giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to some lucky person who comments on our blog posts, so make sure you join the hop and comment on everyone's blog post. Final Karen Burniston Sneak Peek

Tomorrow is the day the new Karen Burniston dies are available for purchase.  For my post today I've got two relatively simple cards for you -- no pop-ups -- just two cards made using the new Rectangles and Labels Crosshatch set.   These dies actually make larger cards than the standard A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

My first card is a 5 x 7.  I made a layered frame by using the two largest dies in the set, cutting them together.  It is popped up, using foam strips.

Also used on this card are the Santa and Gnomes, Happy Birthday, and Birthday Charms.  The gnomes and gifts are popped up on foam tape.

My second card is a 4 x 6, using the next two layered rectangles, decorated with the flowers and leaves from the Flower Pot Pop-Up set.

In this photo you can see the difference in the sizes.

Tomorrow is the day!  All of the new dies will be available for purchase on the Karen Burniston website then.  Don't forget about our Blog Hop tomorrow.  You will have many chances to win a $25 gift certificate to Karen's website just by commenting on each of the blogs in the hop.

Karen Burniston New Release Day 6

I'm still in the beach/ocean mode with today's sneak peek.  Those Sea Charms and Beach Borders are so cute!  My card today combines them with the Wide Woven Basket Box Card from the last release as well as several other previously released sets.  This shows that Karen's dies are perfect for combining with each other.

Not only did I place the crab Beach Border around the bottom of the Woven Basket, but I also placed a couple of the cut-apart crabs in the water with the mermaids.  A section from the Castle Pop-Up set adds a sand-castle background.

Only a few more days to wait before the new dies are available for purchase.  They will be on the Karen Burniston website on Monday, February 20th.

Karen Burniston New Release Day 5

I've got another Beach Hut for you today.  Inspired by Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge card from last month, I've been adding a couple of Bam Boxes inside the Tiny House to make it pop-up in places other than the fold.

I could add only one Bam Box to the Beach Hut because of the window in the front.  I have found that two boxes inside the house give a bit more "oomph" to the pop-up movement.

My card is a modified gate-fold card, similar to the one Karen made -- although my card is an A2 size rather than a 5 1/2" square card.  I used some of the dies from the new Word Set 16 - Beach Happy Hour on the front, as well as waves from Tropical Scene.

I carried the layout from the front to the inside -- waves and sand.  The add-on set has a couple of palm trees, and I added one to the back of the hut with some foam strips.

The cocktail glasses are glued onto a strip of acetate which I had glued inside.

These new dies will be available for purchase on Monday, February 20th.

Karen Burniston New Release Day 4

One of the new dies in this release is an add-on to the Tiny House Pop-Up die set.  It is the Beach Bar Tiny House.  Living in Florida, this set is right in my wheelhouse.  I've had a lot of fun using it.  On the front I did a little "word surgery," adding a "y" to the word "Beach" (from the new Word Set 16 - Beach Happy Hour set) to the previously released Happy Birthday sentiment.

When you open the card, there sits the new little Beach Hut.  I love the thatched roof on it.  Note the cocktails sitting on the bar.  There's more from Word Set 16 - Beach Happy Hour on the inside as well.

Also used on this card are the new Sea Charms and the previously released Hexagon Crosshatch dies.

All of these new dies will be available for purchase on Monday, February 20th.

Karen Burniston New Release Day 3

I know it's early, but card makers (and other crafters as well) must work ahead.  My card for today is a St. Patrick's Day card, using the new Little Twist Panel.  Nothing brand new on the front -- just last year's sentiment die and  the Gnome & Santa transformed into a leprechaun.

There are two Little Twist Panels on the inside, decorated with the Good Luck Charms.

On my earlier sneak peek of this set, I glued the Little Twist Panel on top of the patterned paper on the inside of the card.  On this card, the "anchoring panels" are placed under the patterned paper.  This was accomplished by gluing a strip of paper on both sides of the fold of the card base, then gluing down the twist panel mechanism.  Another strip of patterned paper was then adhered over the "anchoring panels.".

This is definitely a fun die set, and it works so well inside a slimline card.  As I love making slimlines, I can definitely see me using this one a lot.

All the new dies will be available for purchase starting next Monday.

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek Day 2

Happy Valentine's Day!  It seemed appropriate that I have another Valentine's Day card for you today.  The second new die set I'm featuring is called the Little Twist Panel Pop-Up   This die set is similar to Karen's original Twist Panel Pop-Up -- only smaller.

The front of my card is very simple -- just the Happy Valentine's Day sentiment.

But the inside shows off the new Little Twist Panel Pop-Up Pop-Up.   This set also includes that cute little banner which weaves its way through the middle panels.

As you can see from this photo, the mechanism for the Little Twist Panel Pop-Up is all in one die.  You can either show the backing panel (as in my card) or cover it with patterned paper (as in the card on the packaging).

All of the new dies in this release will be available on the Karen Burniston website next Monday, February 20th.  I hope you can check them out.

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek Day 1

Karen Burniston has a small release of six new dies, and I will be showing some sneak peeks of cards made using them all this week.

As tomorrow is Valentine's Day, I've got a Valentine card for you today, one you could give to your best friend.  One of the new die sets is called Rectangle and Labels Crosshatch.  It has a variety of frames you can use with various other sets.  One of them frames the Label Charm Pop-Up on the front.  It gives a finished look to the cut-out.

There is also a frame for the third panel in the accordion.  There are actually four dies you can use with the Label Charm Pop-Up.

In addition to Label Charm frames, there are six rectangular frames in the set -- from a 5" x 7" down to a 3/4' x 2 1/4".

I'll have another Valentine card for you tomorrow using a different new die set.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - Wedding, Anniversary or Valentine

Love is in the air this month.  The Karen Burniston Designer Challenge gave us a choice -- make a wedding, anniversary or valentine card.  I chose to make a Valentine's Day card using the fun new Bam Box set.  I found this cool patterned paper in my stash (I don't even remember when I bought it) and used it all throughout my card.

There are four nested otagonal dies in this set, so they make a great layered look.  The heart and arrow are from the Love Charms set.  And, because of the Bam Box inside, I placed some magnets under the patterned paper to keep the card closed.

Upon opening the card, up pops that Bam Box.

The "Happy Valentine's Day doesn't have a coordinating shadow die, so I fussy cut one.  It makes the words stand out more.

Now I'll go check out the love cards made by the rest of the team.  I hope you do as well.

Scor-Pal "More Than One Score"

My "More Than One Score" project for February is a sweet little treat box that I saw demonstrated last year.    I thought it would make a nice Valentine gift, so I paired it with a simple card made with the same patterned paper.  It's hard to see, but the card would also qualify for "more than one score."  I scored a quilt pattern on the white card stock.

Wendy VanArsdale did a video on how to create that little box.  You can find it on her Wednesday with Wendy Facebook page.
