CCEE1948 -- Movember

Frances reminded the CCEE Stampers that November is also known as Movember, which is a time to celebrate and raise funds for male issues.  For our challenge this week, she asked us to include a Moustache (Mo) on our card in some way.

I was very limited in my choices for a mustache.  I finally found an embossing folder in my stash (or 'stache, if you will) that would work.

Stop over at the CCEE Stampers blog for some more Movember cards.

Gingerbread Cookie Day

In honor of Gingerbread Cookie Day, I have a card today using a really cute gingerbread set from Paper Nest Dolls and the Karen Burniston Photo Collage die set.  I had so much fun making this card.

Isn't that a sweet gingerbread house?  That would be a special card just looking at the front; but, when you open the card, it gets better.

The rubber stamp set has 6 pieces (the house and five gingerbread people).  I actually bought the digital images and was able to adjust the size to fit into the photo frames.  The sentiment is from a Kindred Stamps Wacky Holiday set from last year's Gingerbread Cookie Day.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  I hope you liked my card.

CCEE1947 -- Go for a Ride Day

This week Frances told the CCEE Stampers that tomorrow (11/22) is Go for a Ride Day and challenged us to incorporate some sort of transportation on our cards -- bike, car, train, plane, hot air balloon, etc.  An item I have been able to check off my bucket list is to ride in a hot air balloon.  My late husband gave me that ride for my 50th birthday.  I used a several  Karen Burniston dies on my card.

CCEE1946 - Sundae Day

November 11th is a day after my own heart, and Frances used it as inspiration for this week's CCEE Stampers challenge -- Sundae Day!  She asked us to create a card that features ice cream of some sort.  As a fan of the Netflix series, Stranger Things, I was happy to use the Kindred Stamps digital set (Stranger Friends) for this challenge -- as well as the Karen Burniston Frame Pull Pop-Up die.   And don't you just love that patterned paper that I found?  BTW, I'm also a big fan of ice cream!!!

When you pull that tab with the arrow on it, the front pops up.   The ice cream cone and sentiment are from an old MFT stamp set in my stash.

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog for some more ice cream goodies.

Thanksgiving Pop-Ups

Last week during the Karen Burniston Design Team Blog Hop I showed you some Surprise Ball Pop-Up place holders I had made for my young guests for Thanksgiving.  Today I have a couple of "grown-up" place holders.

The first one uses the Flap and Closure die to hold down the pop-up ball.

I found those stickers in Hobby Lobby, and they were the perfect size to fit on the panels.

My second place holder is a bit more whimsical -- again using stickers to decorate the panels.  And this time I used a belly band to hold it closed.

This die is SO MUCH FUN!!!

Karen Burniston Sneak Peek Blog Hop -- Surprise Ball Pop-Up for Kids

To celebrate the release Karen Burniston and each of the Karen Burniston - KB Riley LLC Design Team members will be giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to some lucky person who comments on our blog posts, so make sure you join the hop and comment on everyone's blog post. I have had so much fun playing with the new Karen Burniston Surprise Ball Pop-Up -- so much so that I have made place holders for each of my guests at Thanksgiving.  Two of these guests are children:  my 11-year-old grandson William and 3-year-old great granddaughter Ariah.

William is a HUGE Spiderman fan.  I had purchased some Spiderman patterned paper several months ago, anticipating that I would make a card for him at some point.  The time has come.

As you can see, I used the Flap and Closure die on all four sides of the card.  When you untie the twine, up pops the ball.

I hand-drew the spiderwebs and cut out the eyes, attaching them strategically.

Ariah's card is Cookie Monster (or at least my version of Cookie Monster).

I had to google "cookies" and "blue fur" to get the background papers for this card.

I had some large googlie eyes, which were perfect.  I also cut a mouth and a piece of cookie to complete the card.

I've made some other Thanksgiving place holders using the Surprise Ball Pop-Up, which I'll be blogging about in the near future.

Thanks for stopping at my blog.  Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win the $25 gift certificate.  Here is the blog hop line-up:

CCEE1945 - Cappuccino Day (Karen Burniston Sneak Peek #3)

Frances starts her month as hostess for the CCEE Stampers with a challenge celebrating Cappuccino Day, which is tomorrow (11/8).   I have a sister who never saw a Starbucks that she didn't love.  I was thinking of her as I made this card -- using a soon-to-be-released Karen Burniston die set, called Parcel Pop-Up.  I also used some dies from the Coffee Charms set.

This die set wasn't necessarily made as a gift card holder, but it works really well for one.   As you pull the front of the card down, the mechanism behind the package causes the gift card to pop-up.

Here's a short video showing how this pop-up works.

This die and several others (including the one which I used to make the closure) will be available around the middle of November.  Be sure to check them out now.  And check out the CCEE Stampers blog for more coffee-related cards.

Karen Burniston Sneak Peek #2 -- Office Charms

I've got another sneak peek at a new Karen Burniston die set today, this time one of her cute charms sets -- OFFICE CHARMS.  Karen has so many clever charms dies and this one is no exception.  It has all those essentials you need in an office.

I combined several of them on this Circle Charm Pop-up card, which could be a gratulations card for a new job or a job well-done.  Several of the charms in this set are larger versions of dies already in the Karen Burniston arsenal  (the binder clip and the push pin) along with several new ones (the scissors, the pencil, and the paper clip, as well as a heart).

I've been having lots of fun using the new dies Karen Burniston has for us this release.  They are all very generic, so you can use them all year 'round.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge -- Holiday Accordions

It's time again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month's theme is Holiday Accordions.  I have used the Fancy Label Accordion die many, many times; so I decided that I should use the Charm Accordion die for this month's challenge.

Who doesn't love a gingerbread man at Christmas time?  Not me, that's for sure.  And red and green Christmas plaid is always a classic.

Using the stitched letters, I spelled out NOEL on the accordion portion of my card, placing several charms in the small frames joining the letters together.

Here's a close-up of the first two letters so that you can see the small charms.

The little Christmas tree on the back charm frame is mostly hidden, but you can see it peeking through.  This was a fun card to make.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Be sure to check out the blogs of the rest of the Design Team as well.

Karen Burniston Sneak Peek #1 - Surprise Ball Pop-Up

It's time again to show some sneak peeks from Karen Burniston.  Starting today you'll be seeing cards made by the design team using seven new dies -- and they are so much fun.  The die I'm using today is the one that grabbed my interest first.

As a fan of Harry Potter, I knew those characters would wind up on one of these pop-ups eventually. As you can see, I have closed my card using another of the new dies -- Flap and Closure.

When you untie the flap and open the card, this is what happens.

There is a taut rubber band inside the ball, which when the card is opened, returns to its normal size -- thus causing the ball to pop up.  So fun!

The images are stickers from Kindred Stamps and just the right size for those sections of the ball.

To give you an idea of how this works, I created a short video.

I have made a bunch of cards using this particular die, so you will be seeing lots more in the near future.

Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge -- Family Celebration

This month's Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" challenge is Birthday or Family Celebrations.  My family loves Harry Potter and Universal Studios.  I made a little purse photo album containing two photos of us at the theme park.

The purse is held closed by small magnets on the flap and underneath the front piece of cardstock.  When you open the purse, the inside contains the photos.

The two (white) end panels are actually envelopes in which I cut ovals.  I then slipped the two photos inside the envelopes.
